Just recently I have had to drive about 70 miles to work where I work as first line support for the council “I know”
Now 75% of the way is done on motorways and in my time on the motorways I have experienced some strange driving from my fellow road users.

I will start my trip quite early in the morning at about 5:20am and make my way to the motorway up a 3 mile road leading to the motorway. Now most of the time there are 4 or 4 lorries also going up this road that aren’t usually a problem as you can pass them. But most of the time your have these drivers that will be doing about 60 and as your doing 70 you don’t really wont to slowdown to 60 as that would mean using the brake or backing of the fuel ;) so you go to over take them and once you have over taken them there speed changes from 60 to 71 now your still at 70 and now the car you have just over taken is on your ass, why do I ask? I don’t know maybe dropped on there head as a child. :whip:

On to the motorway
Now getting on the motorway is usually an easy task of going down the slip road and indicating and pulling into a gap and off you go…. Usually
How many times has this happened to you? Your be driving down the slip road and all your see is a wall of lorries covering the 1st lane, and in the second line there will be nothing, not a sausage. So you think that’s ok as they usually move into the 2nd lane when there’s a slip road coming onto the motorway.. But as you get closer to the 1st lane there still not moving and if anything seem to be getting closer to each other making getting on the motorway imposable, and soon enough you find yourself driving on the hard shoulder to the amusement of said lorries drivers…. :censored:

Then that brings me to this….
I’ll be driving at a constant 70 on the motorway to save fuel now there’s always someone going slower then you when your driving at 70 and most of the time its drivers driving at 60 in the 2nd line with no one in the 1st lane , now once you have over taken these said drivers and gone in the 1st lane something in there heads must click and say Ahhh HAA!! a car in the slow lane ! I must over take it!… now your still going at 70 and they start to go up to 75 and slowly overtake you and then pull into the 1st lane where they proceed to slowdown to 60 again…. Yes you guessed it, your still doing 70… and you must overtake them again, and after that they continue to do the same thing again, all the way though this your speed hasn’t changed from 70
This can go on for several 100 miles

Who ever is in the middle lane got lergi!!

Ever notice when your on the motorway coming up to a on ramp that all the cars coming on to the motorway go straight into the 3rd lane even though the 2nd lane is empty? Making the 3rd lane have to slow right down to about 30 as they have to slowdown for all the cars that have just pulled in? And if you think hold on! The 2nd lane is empty.. why do they not use it? So you think I’ll use it! And so you pull into the middle lane and at this time your flying past all the cars in the 3rd lane and your thinking this is great! Still you see all the drivers in the 3rd lane looking at you like you just killed their mums! :o

There is more but I think I’ll stop here

Have any of you guys seen any strange motorists on the motorway?

:notworthy All true :D Unfortunately

I've also recently noticed a habbit developing. A couple of times now I've been in the 1st or 2nd lane and wanted to move out to overtake something. People who leave a gap plenty large enough for you to pull into suddenly speed up so you can't pull out as soon as they see you indicate. WFT is the point of all this stupid, pointless one upmanship on the Motorway  :annoyed:

Sadly I have been the victim of this too.

Your be driving at 70 in the 1st lane approaching a lorrie and your have a car about 3 cars back in the 2nd lane, your indicate to come out and bang they speedup like there life depended on it :censored:

You do get some right tits on a motorway, usually they're women (No offence) and BMW, Volvo or VW drivers trying to prove they have a big nob!!

Rarely have the pleasure of motorway driving, but the other day I had to help my brother move flats in York (student flats & their landlords, there's certainly another rant in that  ).

Anyway, it was absolutely lashing it down and yet virtually everyone was driving one car's length apart in the fast lane
People moan about 70mph being too slow, yet they drive so drone-like, the slightest mistake by one person and there's a 10-car pile-up.
(note: I took the slow lane 90% of the time).

Have also had a kevved-up BMW blast up a slip road at about 90mph. Leaves you with no choice but to let him in (or die)

And joy of joys, coming up a hill after overtaking a lorry I looked at the hard-shoulder across the road and saw a grey van. Looked ahead and there was a little white CCTV-type camera on the roadside of my lane on a tripod . Now I'm paranoid I'll get a letter for passing this thing at 75mph (according to the speedo). Some advance warning would have been nice.

Isn't it nice that the SX has enough acceleration to foil most of these knobs' plans, tho? :)

Sadly if your trying to drive at a constant speed you meet lots of them :ghey:

My hate, is when you are following someone up the slip road and they seem to insiston on trying to join a motorway at 40 mph  but always they seem to be able to but then a lorry appears just as you are about to :smash:

I can’t beleave this!!

I was on my way to work up the M1 driving in the middle lane going at about 70, I had to overtake a guy driving at 60 so I look over in the 3rd lane and there is plenty of room to come out so I start to indicate and then pull out.

Still loads of room. I then overtake the car going at 60 and then indicate back in the 2nd lane again.

The car that was behind me in the 3rd lane a older BMW overtakes me after I have been in the middle lane for about 10 seconds and then tries to ram ME!!! Thinking he made a mistake I go into the 3rd lane to get out of his way and he tries it again! He then Gets in front of me and slamming his brakes on!

I slam it down to 2nd and skip over to the 1st lane and blast it past him waving my hand out the window to show him what a w$%^&r he was.

After that he stayed back and I never saw him again

I mean what the hell was the point of that?

I know it sounds bad but I hope he meets the unfortunate said of a tree.

This has put me in a bad mood all the way to work….

The ones that really annoy me have got to be "the on up brigade" who will speed up so you cant get out of lane 2 forcing you to brake and pull out behind them, then when you are past the car in lane two they pull back and you go sailing past them? I mean whats that all about, also theres mr arrogant who doesnt care what lane he uses or who he cuts up in his bid to prove he has the fastest car out there, you know, the lane hopping idiot that you constantly end up grinning at when yousee hi obvious frustration everytime you go sailing past because he got held again, patience my man patience, stay in lane and youwill make progress, lane hop and drive like a knob and burn twice the fuel and get nowhere fast.
