156 turns, would it be possible?
I should imagine, at 14 miles and at least 10 minutes of flat out drifting,it would be physically and mentally exhausting.
Pace notes and a brave co-pilot would be mandatory as well!
Anyone know if anybody has managed to drift the entire circuit?

The video of the Ruf Yellow Bird is pretty good, and he drifts a lot though doesnt link any turns. Its stupidly fast though.

I also have a vid of an M5 drifting through a twisty bit.

73 turns actually ;)

If you try drifting round there you're likely to get battered by other angry motorists.

Whys that then,is it all about flat out speed and racing lines over there?
I should imagine drifting the karrusel to be an "Enlightening" experience!

just link the turns that are close, and nail it down the straights,

Speed Drifting kind of thing!

sure it could be done once you can drift well why would it be any more exhausting

than following a racing line at high speed?

The nurburgring is still actually classed as a road and if you have an accident the police etc will attend and if your from in the wrong you can be done (apprently)...

I'm going there for a two-day exclusive trackday in November, so ask me after that! Can't imagine I'll manage to hold it sideways for the entire length of the 2 mile straight near the end though :)

Actually, it's the sort of event that drifting would probably be frowned upon, so I probably won't be doing much anyway. Will deffinately try sidewaysness for a few corners though. Probably the wider ones, without the armco right off the edge...

As long as you're in control and not endangering anybody they really don't care.

In the wet in my mate's M3 we were sideways a hell of a lot, they don't mind.

Perhaps if you went out there leaving huge smoke trails and spinning out etc they'd get concerned, but a bit of playtime is ok, certainly in the wet.

BUT DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT DRIFTING THE KARRUSEL... you would almost certainly crash.

I'll be on an organised Lotus trackday, rather than a public day. They're a bit more serious than the average drifting event, but I know what's acceptable and what isn't. It's not like I'm a loonie behind the wheel in any conditions really.

And as for drifting the Karrusel, the suspension would hit the bump stops, then the chassis would ground on the lip, then I'd launch off the camber over the guardrail and down into the mountains to a firey death. Might give that one a miss!
