Just been on the new rock-it roller coaster ride at EuroDisney that opened this weekend.
Talk about fast acceleration - 0 mph to a loop the loop in around 4 seconds
Now how many bhp am I going to need to get that kind of acceleration from the 2***** .... :D :D :D
For that sort of acceleration you are going to have to sell the 200, and get a .

With a supercharged Nitros injected 8 ltr v12 4wd 30" wide wheels. actualy that would be pretty cool
Think if I ever won the lottery I'd stick a firblade engine in a robin reliant for a laugh. might have a few stability issues though

Narrr, you wouldnt need all that on a Corsa, apparently a K&N and Peco backbox makes 'em good for 300+bhp ;)
I was speaking to my mate yesterday who is a fabricator. He is making bits for this bloke who is putting a tank engine in a car!
Seemed unlikely to me, but the guy's spending alot of money so maybe its true?
I think he is making the car from scratch too

I have heard of some nutter trying to fit a Rolls Royce Merlin engine into a car... :)
This is the engine used in the the Spitfire (the plane not the car!).

There was an aviation engine put in some big long white car, don't know the model. He had a court hearing and everything about being able to drive it. He turned up at the court meeting in the thing. Had a lot of switches to press before he could drive it.
Took it out on an airfield, got 200mph at about 2200 rpm, nice lazy thing :D

I've seen photos of the car with the Merlin engine, it was
actually a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow that some nutter wanted to put a Rolls Royce aero engine into. I think the Merlin is around 12-15 litres, so I don't think you'd get many miles to the gallon.
Rover also once built a jet turbine engined car as a spublicity stunt - with full afterburn that would flame thrower the entire street

Why put a tank engine into a car? Surely it won't be quick?

It was 26 litres, wasn't it?
I remember that car. Looked like a mutant Capri with an RR grill. Did about 3gpm at full chat....
The car was owned by a guy called John Dodds, i think. I believe his son now owns it. It was often billed as having a merlin from a Spitfire, but in reality it was probably the lower powered version fitted to some tanks, as there were many more of these produced. The power made by this version was still about 1000bhp though, with as much torque as you would expect from an engine that topped out at 2000 revs, so with the right gearing it would still be pretty rapid!
2600 lb-ft of torque? Wow, you could attach Mr Carter to one end of the car, and to some other strong thing, and stretch him a bit taller innit

John Dodds built one version and had a long court case with RR about his using a RR radiator grill on it, he took the car up to the Pod a few times back in the late 70's.
Anyway, if I remember correctly version one burnt out , literaly, thanks to an electrical fault, at the side of an Autobahn.
He built version two with a totaly different body style and it was shown around all sorts of car shows.
