When buying my car I severely underestimated how much fuel I'd be buying, currently about £120/month (ouch).

Anyone considered LPG, is it do-able on a 200??

Topgear did a a review on fitting LPG in a LandRover, they removed the petrol tank a replaced it with a half gas/half petrol tank, cost £1800!

They did mention that some high performance cars might be difficult to converted.

If the 200sx could be converted the emissions would be much lower, might not need the CAT?

there was a link on the old board from an aussie chap, who ran a Ca18DET on gas i think. Not certain but because the gas has an octane rating of 112 i think he was able to run silly boost without pinking. My sisters golf gti runs on gas, i worry that it'll blow up and leave a crater where a town used to be.

Total monthly mileage is about 3000. So I spend about £400 on fuel.

Fortunately most of that is on expenses. I do about 800/1000 miles in the 200.

My company Saab is bi-fuel. Don't notice much difference switching between the two types, but the difference at the pumps 34.9p V 78.9p is vast.

Sorry, don't know for sure if the 200 can be converted. Try the Powershift Webiste www.est-powershift.org.uk/ (http://www.est-powershift.org.uk/) they ought to be able to answer the question.

good luck with trying to find someone, as i have called almost all of the LPG conversion companies, and they all say the same thing...

"we don't do turbo cars, sorry"

apparently, they claim that the backfire risk is too great, but don't actually go into details when i ask them to explain it !

if yo find someone who will give a decent answer, or will actually do it, please let me know !!

The main problem with LPG is that its a gas not atomised fuel, so gas makes the engine run hotter....not good for a turbo lump.

A coleague from work told me about it (he used to work for ICI as a chemist so he knows his 5h1T)

I spend £200 per month.

And NOPE, you can't convert turbo cars to run on LPG. If you could we'd all do it yesterday!

Just wait until enough people have converted and the Government will whack the price up. Today it's all 'environmental' - so the price is cheap. When the balance shifts in favour of LPG there will be a reason 'adjust' the cost accordingly.....

I spend about £200 a month too.
When LPG is taken up by more people, they'll just shove the tax up on it because otherwise they'll be losing millions in lost revenue. It's only a short term cost saving at the pumps I reckon.
