View Full Version : Cars that you want that you shouldn't
Over the years there have been many cars that have got under my skin, that no matter how wrong wanting them is, I'd still love to own one. Chief among these is the Allegro HL Equipe and I would still crawl over hot coals to own one .
Others include the Mistubishi Starion and Mk2 Ford Escort RS000, which I'm not at all embarrassed about, and nor should I be  .
But the worst, and I know it's wrong, very wrong, but I can't help it, is the Porsche 924. I'm looking to get a second car in July, a toy if you will, and I just can't get this car out of my head. :annoyed:
Does anyone else have horrors like this they'd love to own and would seriously buy one (other than Leon of course)?
I've always hankered against a 500SL :o
I know they're big and heavy and handle like an ar$e, but imo they look gorgeous and I've have one like a shot if I was offered it for free :D

the list goes on...

They aren't exactly shitters...
MarkH - why the Mk1 Starion? Only 156bhp on those ones, otherwise pretty much the same other than a few interior bits to the I/C-ed Mk2...
eerr dunno, I think it is the Mk1 I like show me a pic of the mk2 and I could be converted!!! Never studied them as I never took em seriously!!

Never took them seriously?
They were as fast as one of the faster porsches of the day!!! And they are fantastic to drive...
MK1 and MK2-3 were nearly the same on the outside - just a minor difference in the lip spolier at the back.
They are the narrow bodies.
Mk4 onwards were the widebodys...
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mark.stacey1/images/DSC00065b.jpg
this is teh same as mine was - one of the last of the 2. narrows.
an't find a pic of a Mk1 yet but it is identical pretty much (aside from the vented bonnet of course - how could i forget that!)

I didn't think that either but most people don't agree..... Datsun badge, you know? I can understand them not liking the Laurel, I suppose it is a bit boxy and dated but I think it's quite charming. The C210 Skyline is just gorgeous though, proper Capri style car. But no one likes it!
I've always wanted to get another one of my 1st car,
1977 Toyota Celica ST Liftback (2.0L)
Mine was White and sexy..
Here's a few pics of others to those that dont know it, jap performance as my 1st car

One day we'll get one :smitten:

I know I shouldn't want one. My head tells me I don't want one. But when I can't find a Starion or MR2 when I buy an Auto Trader, I find myself looking at 924s and I get a burning sensation in my bank account. :annoyed: I've managed to resist so far but I'm weak. :wack:

Only 2 cars i'd really want would be a Mk1 RX-7 and an SD1 V8. Can't really complain cuz i've already owned both and they are the best cars i've ever driven (except my S12/13s :D )

I love that style of modding, it's cheesy but cute. On an Option video I think it was they had this guy with a Cedric and it had the pointy up exhaust and a light-up chandelier instead of the usual little light. The engine noise was so ace too, like brrrrooooaaa. Oil cooler stuck out on the front but not even hooked up, huge arches. Godfather theme plays when you toot the horn. People were looking at it disapprovingly but him and his mate were sat inside grinning loads, I'd love a car like that.
citroen axgt. now very old and succumbing to classic french build quality.
my first car was one of these. it was on a g-plate and 11 years old when i got it for £900. central locking and leccy windows fcuked, wobbly steering, and made a strange clonking noise on right turns (should've been driveshaft gaiter but still did it when i replaced it). served me well for three years. one week it developed a misfire and i replaced rotor arm, leads etc to no avail. then got pi55ed off with it, took it out and thrashed it and lo and behold it cured itself
absolute sh1tter but blessed with so much personality. a rare finding in cars nowadays. if i could find it i'd buy back it in an instant and give it the tlc it deserves. alas i think it has probably gone to the scrapheap.
no car i've driven since has put such a smile on my face (though the 200s come close) and i doubt one ever will :smitten:
