they do say the refs decision is final, i hope its his final ever decision in a proffessional football match. useless tw@t.
shouldn't even have gone in to extra time, never mind penalties.
11 men will never beat 12, and I thought the Swiss abstained! The mans a cnut, they should have had the Cleaner on the case.
Goal shouldn't have been disallowed and therefore we would have won.
But the Portugese goalie scoring the final goal was strangely funny.
what a useless cnut this ref was anyone would of thought hed been paid. :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious:
Taken from http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/soccer/06/23/england.portugal/, yesterday.
Scolari praises quarterfinal referee
ALCOCHETE, Portugal (Reuters) -- Luiz Felipe Scolari broke with Brazilian tradition by praising the choice of referee for the Euro 2004 quarter-final between his adopted Portugal and England on Thursday.
Scolari gave the thumbs-up on Wednesday to UEFA's decision to put Switzerland's Urs Meier in charge.
"He's an excellent referee," said the man known in his homeland as Big Phil. "I remember him from the World Cup. He's always close to the action and he has respect for the players. They chose very well."
"By the way, I don't think we need to be talking about referees. The referee is independent, and whether he's right or wrong, his decision won't change."
I am so guted I cant even say :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed:
TOTALLY ABSOLUTLY GUTTED,WHAT IS IT, WHY DOES IT ALWAYS HAPPEN,FOR **** SAKE,im getttin pissed,
I would assume, although I don't know, being thoroughly unversed in this sort of thing, that is to say ignorant of what goes on on the pitch vise-a-vise play and rules and stuf, having thoroughly considered the above, I would suggest that we aren't good enough to beat enough teams to win.
Its only a guess tho.
Im not a footie fan nor will I ever be, BUT..
It doesnt matter wether or not that goal was allowedor not, even if we drew against portugal we were out anyway.
So 2 - 0 or 2 all we would still be out.
Hopefully life can now return to normal.
Every time now its nothing but violence, 2 England supporters dead, FFS its a GAME, some people just dont know where to stop.
Sorry but this kind of mindless violence really gets to me, there is no need for it, we live in a violent enough world as it is.
We should all take a breath and go back a few years where football was a freindly game and supporters although following opposing teams all got on.
We were good enough to beat portugal, but not the referee
The referee was a tw@t I agree, but England were far to negative again. Portugal are not the team they used to be. Englands over-hyped midfield (mainly Beckam) just did not perform. But a bad decision cost us, when in major competions like this are they going to use the cameras that are recording the match to decide such critical decisions FFS, I mean they are used in major cricket matches for LBW decisions etc, why not in football?
exactly, why cant we have video replays?

Exactly. Take the example from WW1 where the Germans and the Brits stopped shelling the sh!t out of each other on Xmas(?) Day to have a kick about.
Thats what the "beautiful" game should be about, as opposed to riots, lager louts and general thuggery.

It was 1-1. If that goal had been allowed it'd have been 2-1 to us, in normal play, and the match would have ended 2 minutes later, with England the winners.
