I'm needing some welding done for my MOT so i'm gonna to buy a MIG (since the last one got nicked  ) and hopefully pay some nice SXOC person to come over and weld some plates to the floor of my car. I'll do all the prepping myself but i need someone who can just do the welding bit for me. I'd try and do it myself but i don't have time to learn to weld before billing. Doesn't have to be someone from the board... anyone who knows what they're doing and wants to make some money.
Anyone wanna make some cash??
is Lancaster too far from you?
my cousins got a workshop there and knows what he's doing welding S13's (We had to do a shit load of welding on his), if you could get to Wigan I'm sure that SilviaGod could do it easily enough as well.

I don't mind having a go if you can bring it to me  If it is the floor pan and it can be done from above it is an easy job.

The floorpan is the main culprit though there is a small hole in one of the chassis rails but i'll just get the MOT garage to do that while it's up on their ramps. The car is completely stripped so if i bring it over i just need to pull out the drivers seat...... however......
The worst of the rust is right above the fuel pipes under the drivers footwell.... I'd guess the fuel pipes will have to come off to patch the floor.

my fuel pipes were knackered too and the brake pipe. I had to replace them.

I'm planning to replace all the pipes anyway but i was hoping i'd get away with doing them after billing. Kinda hoping the MOT man doesn't look too close at them.

The section of pipe could be removed for the welding and replaced with rubber hose then sorted properly after Billing.

I'm booking it in for pre-MOT this weekend so i'll ask how much they'll charge if i get them to weld it all for me.
How much do you reckon they'll hit me for?? :D one chassis rail, 2 footwells, one inner sill and to small holes behind the seats.

150 quid  but that is only a guess as when I couldn't weld I had a friend who could.
I have had a Silvia S12 for nearly 20 years so until I got the S13 welding abilities were not needed.

Strangely enough my old S12 never needed any welding at all, it looked a bit tatty but the bodywork was solid .... this S13 has already been welded in 7 different places and i'm about to have another 6 plates welded in

Phoned all 7 of my local garages yesterday to see if i could get the welding done..... not one of them do welding ?? ??
What happened to all the proper mechanics? Anything more stressful than an oil change ad the garages don't want to know :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed:
