>> The image is a panoramic view of the world from the new space station. It
>is a night photo with the lights clearly indicating the populated areas. You
>can scroll East-West and North-South. Note that Canada's population is
>almost exclusively along the U.S. border. Moving east to Europe, there is a
>high population concentration along the Mediterranean Coast. It's easy to
>spot London, Paris, Stockholm and Vienna. Check out the development of
>Israel compared to the rest of the Arab countries. "Note the Nile River and
>the rest of the Dark Continent". After the Nile, the lights don't come on
>again until Johannesburg. Look at the Australian Outback and the
>Trans-Siberian RailRoute. Moving east, the most striking observation is the
>difference between North and South Korea. Note the density of Japan. "What
>a piece of photography. It is an absolutely awesome picture of the Earth
>taken from the Boeing built Space Station last November on a perfect night
>with no obscuring atmospheric conditions."

Top piccie John - I never get tired of looking at that.
I wish I could have used it in an argument I was having with an aussie about how much space theyve got the other day though :(

Very kewl picture that is. A bit dark in Africa and in Siberia.

Makes me remember what my friend had to go through last summer. At first he lived three weeks in their summer cottage in Spain and the very same night he got home he had a flight to Russia behind the mountains of Ural to work on a construction site for 6 weeks. The place had one bar and nothing else. The bar was open only fridays from 4pm to 9pm and he was forced to work every friday at that time. He said it was the worst time he had ever had and would never do it again although the pay was good.. :D

They have got it, just dunno what it's for.

Electricuting Famous Canadian musicians would be a good place to start.
Celine Dion, Brian Adams, Alannis Morrisette, Crash Test Dummies to name but a few.

i reckon they knew the pic was going to be taken and all hit the light switch at the same time. A bit conspiracy theorist maybe, but you cant trust a country that speaks french or something, but isnt france.

Surely you just get the satellite to match the speed of the earths orbit and stay on the opposite side from the sun??
Easy. :)
