Thought this was quite funny. Just got a mail from Cornhill insurance about an insurance plan called 12points + where if you lose your license for too many points they will get you to work and back for the duration of your ban for 30 something quid a year- nice!
A well targeted mailshot?!? ;) :D :D

Well as far as I know, they can be removed from your licence after 3 years. However the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) not DVLA consider 4 years before they are "spent".
According to the re-habilition of offenders act 1974 (I think it was 74) the conviction is classed as spent after 5 years.
The most recent info I can find on this one says the convictions are spent after THREE years but the points will in fact remain printed on your licence for FOUR years (except in some really serious cases where the info remains on the licence for up to 11 years). I've been looking because my lady pal is up before the beak tomorrow to explain why she shouldn't be disqualified because she didn't stop at a roundabout junction with no traffic on it. Copper happened to be behind her at the time.
I've told her not to quibble about the inoffensive offence, but to go big on the single mother of three living in remote village sob story. The mags have the discretion not to ban her (but going on her previous luck she's going to have to get used to the bus).

Same here, I thought the entrance to a rounabout was give way not stop.
found this in the highway code,
161. When reaching the roundabout you should
give priority to traffic approaching from your right, unless directed otherwise by signs, road markings or traffic lights
check whether road markings allow you to enter the roundabout without giving way. If so, proceed, but still look to the right before joining
watch out for vehicles already on the roundabout; be aware they may not be signalling correctly or at all
look forward before moving off to make sure traffic in front has moved off.
It's not conclusive but I still rekon the copper that niked her needs a boot up the arse and be made to read the highway code until his eyes bleed.
