Yeah, another qu about broadband

I've seen from other threads that Zen or Nildram come pretty highly recommended :) Looked at both webbies, with specific interest in hours on-line....not that I spend a lot, compared to some, but usu on-line for about 3 hrs a night. With Nildram that incurs an extra charge but not clear from the Zen webbie what they offer and what I'd have to pay extra for

Anyone got any pointers? I haven't been on-line for over a month & have enough to follow up without having to spend time checking out this sorta thing, if the sxoc guys can get me an answer quicker & easier :) Not looking for much, I just want faster download times and quicker uploads for piccies etc when I have to do it :)

Ta muchly,
Trace

I also believe a member/user on here is an agent for Zen but again cant remember who :wack: May be able to get a discount installation ;)

It depends on the connection you choose. Nildram offer two entry level packages - one offering 50hrs connection time and one offering 1gb bandwidth limit a month. These are 19.49 a month. I wouldn't bother.

Personally would certainly go with the next option up, even if you don't think you'll use it more than the above. Thats unlimited connection time/downloads and is 22.99 a month. 1 Gb is feck all and 50 hours a month is not as long as it sounds either.

Anyone tried a cross-ISP ping comparison? I can pin www.google.com in an average of 27ms.

I did a mouse hover over the modem jobbie tonight and it came up with the attached, for 40 mins of surfing. Initially my maths failed me (didn't notice it was bytes & not kbytes lol) but even so I think this would work out more than 1Gb/month assuming 2½ hours on-line... so now I'm hopelessly confused! Most of the cheap packages I've looked at are for 1Gb/month - think I agree with Papa that better to go for Nildram's unlimited access package....but I have this new house & I'm not sure how much free cash I'll have a month, and also Nildram start-up costs seem to be high with modems & filters etc

I'm being a bit of a wuss I know, maybe I want it all - but atm I'm on pay-as-you-go dial-up (@ 1p/min) which is money down the drain imo, and I need to sort this out pdq.

Sorry guys, think I'm just having a girlie moment here lol. I can get cheap, cheerful, not-too-good-but-all-included 1Gb connection from BT for something less than £20, or I can get no-problems-high-start-up-but we're-dead-good from Nildram for something more than £20 ...think that's the decision I have to make

Can only speak for Nildram but you do not have to buy the hardware off them if you don't want to.

You can buy cheap ADSL modems http://www.ebuyer.co.uk/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=60068 and microfilters http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=661414331&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X3Jldmlld3M=&product_uid=43075
