Yet again my MR2 is going to cost me money.
I've now got some major problems with the electrics, christ knows what, I'm hoping that it's as simple as the alternator, but I dont hold much hope.
I had to be recovered this evening by the RAC as it just lost all electrical power and died. After 5 minutes I didn't even have enough battery to power the hazard lights
I guess the proverb is true......
Your right foot is directly proportional to your wallet
Sorry to hear that, mate.
Didn't think booting it would be that bad for leccy bits, though, so don't stop :)
Is there somewhere you can get bits cheap for MR2's, like you can on this forum for 200's? (A mate of mine has bought one and needs a few bits to get it going)
Sounds like the alternator hopefully - once they die, the car solely runs off the batery, and most of the time without warning will just die. Happened a couple of times to me.

Exaclty what happened to me I had to jump start it 8 times to get it home had a mate follow me for 4 miles home and had to drive with just side lights to save power at 2:30 in the morning not fun. hope it is just the alternator for you mate nice easy fix  . but it is exactly what mine did and it was the alternator. bloody water leak :annoyed:

exactly what happened to ades at one point too. At the last Drift Practice at silverstone - we made the day drifting thanks to dans battery but trying to get back to liverpool was a no go. Car just died near a slip road and that was the only safe place to let the car roll too and sit and wait to be recovered. No electrics for hazards etc - we had many near misses to getting hit - angry drivers for us not warning them etc :( but it wasn't done on purpose !!
Our next attempt was to get it to Scotland on two full batterys - then in scotland we would change the alternator...................we just made it, had one stop on the motorway to change battery - everything died. Ade tailed me in the golf all the way up. Got to the back roads just before home and he was on sidelights too - but no power at all :(
Anyways deffo sounds like the alternator. The radio used to turn off when indicating due to not enough power etc lol
We changed the alterantor and went to head to crail and she died again ....................... we forgot to check the fuse !!! so remember check the fuse !!!!!!!!!!!! :Plug:

re quoting myself :wack:
oops
Does that mean you won't be able to make it to Anodover tomorrow, or will you use the FB?
its a weird one this rob,
almost a god sent that the DD was cancled at the last minute.. so you didnt miss out :D
but if the alternator was the only thing that went you would expect just the battery light to come on not all of the dash lights.. unless due to the low power its getting the ecu got confused and just lit up everything in a fit of panic??
or as Will said, maybe its your fan belt? i know it not slipping like a normal one but it might be that your belt is lose and the water pump isnt going round as much as it should this your heating prob and this would also cause the alternator to not do its thing..
but it was a bit sudden.. so i'm gonna go with the alternator vote.
suspention off job but nice and cheap when you have m8's like we do
