Get a good file wall (Zonealarm Pro/NIS will do)
Use ICF is you are using XP
Download ActivePorts
Download Destop Sentry
Use a good and up to date AV package

If you use Morpheus they SWEAR blinkd there is no hole in the program. :D Eitherway, I sit behind a firewall.
If you don't share your files, you will fnd a LOAD of people will not share their files with you.. bummer. :(
