when my IE cahce gets full and i try to save a jpeg from a website i can't save it as a jpeg, only as a BMP...if i empty my temporary internet files it'll then allow me to reload the picture and save it as a jpeg...any clues to get around having to empty my cache?

If you go into Tools > Internet Options, you can alter the disk space used by the cache. (with IE6 that is....)

Another reason why IE is shite.

Get yourself a decent browser (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/)

that won't help though, it'll just mean it takes longer to fill up the cache, i want it so if the cache is full it overwrites the oldest stuff so i don't ever have to empty it, surely it can be intelligent enough to do that itself?!

It doesn't work like that

Anyway, why do you want to keep hundreds of MBs of old web pages for?

I clear my cache constantly...(to cover my tracks from all the porn I surf :p )

i don't wanna keep them, i just want it to be intelligent enuff to clear the cache for me, takes about five minutes to clear the cache so i can save something...it's annoying!

As said before, IE is shite and doesn't do what it should do. There's no way around this problem other than clearing your cache every so often, which is not really acceptable.

Another problem caused by a full cache is the inability to view a page's source code. Quite annoying. I wouldn't say IE is shite though, I prefer it over the competition - mainly because of its integration into windows and corresponding fast load time I guess. I love being able to switch from explorer to internet explorer in the same app - I know other browsers will let you browse your HD but it's not the same.

No, Netscape is Mozilla, and Firefox is also Mozilla based.

wow, so i got firefox, and apart from it doing this to the sxoc board i like it...can't tell what it does but all the pages i visit look "nicer"...it did, however, crash on first install and has thrown a wobbly once...so let's see how well it behaves, but so far, excellent :)
