View Full Version : PC Spring (Summer) Cleaning
I've just taken off my HSF, removed the huge clumps of dust :wack: re-applied Arctic Silver 5 and plonked it all back together. I lost 3 degrees on the CPU temp!!!!! 46 degrees now with case temp of 29 :)
Get in there people :)

What is the best software for finding CPU temps?
Motherboard Monitor .... http://mbm.livewiredev.com :)
Then you need to set it up for your motherboard, follow the instructions on the website if you can't get it working :)

I'm not coming to the HWH no, can't be arsed, other stuff to do :)
Disco: You need a better PSU mate, your voltages are low :wack:

Heres mine. I was running 2400 mhz briefly but couldn't get it stable, so knocked it back quite a lot until I get a better PSU. Running a Qtec which I understand is a bit naff?

Ahhh the Barton Mobile, sounds like it's a bit of a cracker!!! Might have to invest :D

Yep, people seem to be getting mad overclocks on them with carlos fandango type systems.
Mine is pretty good. But, I am a bit puzzled because although it appears to run well, with the FSB set at 200mhz with any processor speed Prime95 torture test bugs out after a few minutes, with the stock SPD memory settings (its Geil Ultra PC3200 memory). Was also getting very occassional BSOD's in Windows XP.. So I've now altered it to 166mhz x 13 for the time being, and its stable. The Geils memory timing is pretty aggressive by default. Perhaps its just a case of upping the voltage on that. But a bit disappointing it doesn't "just work" with stock settings, as you would expect it to, without running 2.8 or 2.9v through it.
Reckon with some messing around with memory voltages and timing, CPU voltages, a decent PSU, and possibly a better fan on the heatsink, I'm sure I could get 2.4-2.5 ghz stable out of it, though.
my poor little 850 duron went all the way up to 60degrees last night :wack::D
More cooling and a bigger processor planned for tomorrow
LOL arry :D :D
Papa: Yep mines the same, I've never had Prime95 torture test stable despite the fact that everything else runs 24x7 with no problems :wack:
I've got PC3500 (DDR466 ram) with a Sparkle PSU so not shitty stuff either :wack:

Anyone ever check their geekness with sisoft sandra?
The higher the score the more mega the geek within :D

Not going to get anywhere near theories efforts, but just starting to crank up the speed a bit.. :)
Dave, it seems much more stable at 200 FSB with tweaked memory timings (2-4-4-7). This thread has got me interested in finding out I can get out of it again :smash:
