You'll need to cut the arches off the back and weld some new ones in - they rot through from inside, so if there's any rust on them they're fooked. Mind you, for 200 quid you're laughing.
ITS WHITE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NAR its blue LOL
Basically check for rust.... they are buggers for it.
Mine was mint, and I got it for £700, but I rekon he could of gotten about £1200 for it.
Rear arches..... check them, really well.
Sills, they are really likely as well to rust. Also a good thing to check for is the floor of the bonnet space, it's very common to see them with a crack and some rusting there because some pillock along the lines has jacked it up there and messed it all up.
What year is this MR2?.... if it's 1987 onwards it will be a 2nd rev I think, and have better brakes etc....
If its a T-Bar, be very ready for leaky leaky.... sunroof versions are prone as well, but not a serious, see if he is ok with you chucking water over it (close the windows first ;) )
Also, when driving at motorway speeds see if there is any wind noise... seems to be fairly common to have knackered seals on the doors.
Check 5th gear, they have a nasty habit on the rev 1's to pop out of it.... get it up to 5th gear, and then let off the power... see if it stays in.
Check the alternator, it's more than likely it's knackered, but there is a mod you can do to a Rover 216 alt... which I happen to have, that will make it fit the MR2... if you need the alt.. let me know, I have a spare :)
There is loads of things to check, but they seem to be the main things, and it did me ok :)
You will love it though, more fun that you will have with your pants on... though don't try driving it without them on... apparently the police think it's a bad idea :D
