Yep, £14 cambelt tensioner failure results in £125,000 repair bill as 64 valves meet 16 pistons!

Wonder if that'd be under 'general wear and tear' warranty.

You'd have some fun if it developed a noisy tappet as well.

But remember - being a VeeDub, the subsequent diesel variant will be faster - witness the Golf GTi and TDi figures. The oil burner has it.
