If the car its for is crushed to a little cube etc and theres nothing left? i know the obvious answer is to bin the lot i guess, worthless otherwise but what about the V5, do i have to return this to the DVLA and mark it as written off or something?

cheers
Matt

yeah you have to send it back as being scrapped, other wise you may get in trouble for not taxing it, also someone might steal it's identiy and you will have explain it away.

There's a tick box on the v5 to say it's scrapped. I think if it went whole you're meant to get the breaker to sign it to say they have it and it's scrapped, if you literally chop it into pieces yourself you can just tick it and send off. I ticked mine anyway as the breaker is 20 miles away (didn't have v5 with me when they took it) and it wasn't going back on the road. Chassis bent like a banana and no engine/transmission/interior :wack:

You could sell the history to someone. :wack:
