View Full Version : My bloody elbow is killing me.

I seem to have fooked the tendons in my right elbow after the karting evening on saturday. I can barely move my arm without it hurting like fook and cant put any pressure on it like lifting/pulling/pushing anything. Very tender to touch too.

Any ideas how to sort this? Ive got stuff to do on mine and others cars and this is going to be a bit of a major problem. Not to mention other little things like mowing the lawn, driving or wiping my arse.

Would Deep Heat sort it?

deep heat may eleviate the tenderness but probably wont help it get better as it only really effects muscle, and the tendons are probably a bit deep to help their connections

what you want is probably one of them lycra tube thingies to support your elbow and reduce its movement a bit and maybe an anti inflamatory like ibuprofen to take down any swelling from the tendon connections and let it heal

unfortunately most things like that are rest it to make it get better, which is probably out of the question this week by the sound of it, but the stretcy tube should help take the pressure off it for a while

I knacked my elbow when karting once. Turned the wheel too enthusiasticaly and cracked it off the engine behind me  .
Guess you'd remember if you'd done that though.

used to happen to me almost every time after Karting - and I used to do it every day!

Just one of those things mate, there's not much you can do but just rest :(

For the acute period, probably some decent anti-inflammatories (Ibuprofen, Diclofenac, something like that) and a decent bit of rest should sort it out.

If it doesn't settle down, go see someone good :)

Might be tennis elbow. Something to do with the tendon becoming inflamed as it rubs on the bone.

The doctor told me the only cure was rest I'm afraid.

A full body massage off a pair of 18 year old Swedish nymphettes should do it.
Well, it would take your mind off the pain anyway !

I'd say ice pack rather than deep heat, and Ibuprofen

when i hurt mt arm trying to lift a belfast sink on my own i had similar problems and the only that seemed to take the pressure off my arm and stop me using it was to put it in a sling..... even with a tube bandage i was still tempted to use it as it was my writing hand......

hope it gets better soon though mate :)

when i hurt my shoulder i used deep heat, or freeze spray, all that does is ease the pain, but wont be enough to carry on using it, the only other thibg you could use is nandralone but i doubt any doctor is going to prescribe you that

The only elbow problems that exist are caused by one of 2 things. Tennis and W@nking. Anything else is a lie.

I was unaware you played tennis Steve :D :D :D :D

Depends what you've done  and where your pain is....

Anti-inflam advice is good, orally or topically (but check with pharmacist you are ok to take if not taken before) and ice can be very useful.

If its actually around the tendon insertions (the prominent knobbly boney bits on the inside and/or outside of your elbow) you can get a "tennis/golfers elbow" strap which sits just below the tendon insertions and acts as a false anchor thus taking strain off the tendons.

As it settles do lots of gentle stretching throughout the day, with the elbow straight bend the wrist so you feel a gentle stretch in your problem area

Hard to give better advice without seeing sometimes ;)
