View Full Version : My aerial has died (S13) - sympathy required
Whilst normally you'd have to slice my nuts off with rusty Stanley knife and make me eat them - raw - before I'd say anything negative about the S13 I'm afraid I have to admit that the electric aerial is absolutely
SH*TE!
As you may have seen from a couple of threads ALL S13 aerials stick - even the ones that don'd do.(??!)
Anyway, as of last night mine is (sniff, sniff) dead.
Can anyone recommend what to do if (and I hope it's not a definate) I find out the motor is beyond salvation?

Mines stuffed too.
Didn't realise it was electric until I pulled it, top section came off altogether and about a foot of thick plastic strimmer wire stuff followed.
Excellent.

Mine got buggered to (i wont say how)
But I've managed to source one of dem nice Merc Stubby like Highpowered Antenna Bee sting aerials.
When I take out the small dent in my rear qtr I'm gonne fill/plate the hole where the existing electric aerial is and fit the beesting on the roof (as per ya GOLFs , mercs etc etc)

Well I'll get replacement, but I have far more pressing problems to sort first.
See 'Help - Smokey rattly bag of nails on S13 Tech questions'
If you source a nice cheap Aerial, see if they'll do bulk discount on 2? Yeah right, only a thought.
Just spent 4 hours grovelling under my motor trying to get turbo heat sheild off, gave up.
Changed oil, now I look like some kind of soap dodger.

Steve,
£2.35 says you left the radio on in the carwash......
PS Bayside blue? What's the story behind that?

Im pretty sure you can just get the aerial without having to pay for the whole unit, Ripper hopefully your's has just got so jammed up that the motor cannot cope. can you hear any motor noise when you turn on the radio? if not the motor coil may have burnt out trying to move the aerail up and down.
Steves car is bayside blue and it looks great, it's about time he posted some pic's of it.
