I'm having issues with testing SUS. Got a network with 1 DC and 1 member server with currently no other computersd in the domain. I have installed SUS on the DC (running SP4, as is the member server), applied the updated wuau.adm file to the default domain policy administrative template and configured the new options just to set the source for updates as the DC and left everything else to not configured.
On the member server I have also useing gpedit updated the administrative template.
I have then used secedit to force propagation of the group policy to the member server.
I have synchronised the SUS server and approved all updates (remember its for testing kids :D) and I know that both the DC and member server need updating from the SUS server.
I then have gone to the Automatic updating as per microsoft instructions as per http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;326693 and tried to force the detection cycle and nothing :confused:
Also I have deliberately not updated the wuau.adm on the local policy for the DC to see if the new templates would propagate to the local policy (dont lknow why I was doing that now :rolleyes: )
I dont fancy reading the whitepaper to solve this :eek:
