It's quite poosible one of you may be able to save my PC from a grisly encounter with an electric carving knife and a big hammer! I am running win98 and have recently gone over from virgin.net pay as you go to virgin24-7. Ever since I have done this my isp connection cut off if I.... a) while using internet explorer click over to outlook express. b) While in outlook express click the "send/receive" button. c) having composed a new e-mail then click on the send button. If I do any of the above my connection cuts off and I have to dial up again http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/mad.gif I have checked the dial up connections bit on the control panel and can find nothing to remedy this. Please someone help my computer before it goes offlne for THE FINAL FECKING TIME! PS. I am to computers what Mongo is to quantum physics. ( I love Blazing Saddles!)

i`ve got win 98 and remember everytime i move from IE to OE it has to make a new connection but it usually asks whether i would like to try and search for the server on the current connection or disconnect and make a new connection to it.
By the sounds of it you have clicked "disconnect and make new connection" and then ticked "dont ask this again".
Thats my guess anyway.
Dont know about the send and receive.
Maybe that`ll clear up if you sort this first prob.
Go into OExpresses advanced options and tell it to ask you what you want to do about "connections".
I`m no PC genius but it may help dude http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif

This sounds like an issue with your outlook mail settings..Load up outlook express
go to Tools, Accounts, Mail tab, and bring up the properties of your email setup.

Then go to the Connection tab and make sure there's nothing checking or enabled/disabled which would disconnect the modem before sending/receiving.

On the nail guys.. I aint used 98 for a year or so, but as far as I remember you have an option to either:

Disconnect when mail recieved / sent and one to open a new connection apon checking.. You can set a diffetn connection to both Outlook Express and Explorer!

Just hunt this tick box down.. should be either under Accounts or Config or summint.

Hope this helps!

Ther eis NO reason why you should need to disconnect, so it IS a simple setting problem. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif
