View Full Version : rover 220 turbo Dangerous handling
When I accelerate the car lurches to the right, and when the clutch is pressed it goes to the left, is this normal for these cars ? Had the tracking done, and it still does this, any ideas ?

Check the tracking and your tyre pressures. Otherwise its just the notorious 220 torque steer.

I used to drive one and although it was fast it handled like shi.t . It did pull on acceleration but not too bad, dont lift off mid corner in it though

I think Autocar said that the 220 turbo had "traction problems", i've raced one and it was quick, but as soon as we both got to a large roundabout he slammed on the anchors......I didn't http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif
Sounds like torque steer. Moto-build are rover specialists and do an anti torque steer bush kit for 200 turbos cos it's a common problem. Don't think it costs too much either.
