hmmm you guys might help :D

The dolomite has a JVC KDS721 connected up to 4 speakers and a vibe subwoofer in the boot

i installed it last year and have had no problems but last week it has developed a problem

the head unit dosnt cut out but all the speakers do and if you lisen you can still hear music being played thru the subwoofer only

i checked all the connections and had a play with them and they all seem connected and sucure

weird thing is your be driving along and the stereo will work ,, you only have to hit a small bump and it will cut out the speakers ( bar the sub) ... seems to work on movment...brake.. and it comes back ( or go's away if it was working )

maybe there is a dry connection in the head unit itself

when you turn the unit on before it says the rather gay " hello" greeting then you get a small crackle thru the speakers

seems very strange that the problem has come out of no where

lol you have to bear with me . not good with this stuff

thanks

James :D

Might be one of the speaker cables has had the sheilding sliced in some way and the cable is earthing on the body every now and then. This happened in my mates old MK1 MR2 - used to play ok for a while and then the headunit would power down. Finally traced it to a split cable touching the metalwork.

I assume the sub is running off a seperate amp, maybe the internal HU amp is on the blink in some way? Still sending a signal to the external amp to power the sub but not any of the speakers running directly off the HU?

Bit vague, but i'm also not great at this stuff! :)
