Do you have BT Call Minder 1571 and suffer internet dial up trouble?

If you use the BT Telephone Call Minder Service (1571) then you could be suffering internet problems that you may not be aware of!

If your modem is having trouble logging onto the internet then it may be caused by the BT Call Minder service.

BT's Call minder service changes the dial tone everytime you have messages to listen to, from a constant dial tone to a pulse tone.

Your modem may be getting confused as most are setup to dial only when they detect the standard tone.

-----------------------------------------
The way to avoid this:

Either check/listen to all your messages before you dial up the internet or go into your modem settings and un-check the box that says: wait for dial tone.

Hope this helps,

R

The info comes from Computer Buyer Feb 2002 - New section (18.1.2002)

(Please forward this message onto anyone who use's the BT Call Minder service. It may help them.

Hey, no disrespect to Callminder, it's running on kit on the floor below me at work! http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif Hell, I'm technically part of the team supporting it now http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/redface.gif

Binned mine off this week! Call waiting can cause you probs aswell but you can do something about that in the dial-up settings...Jezz posted something about this on our board this week!

I prefer to screen my calls and 1571 doesn't deliver in that dept. so bye bye Call Minder service.
