Thought I'd put this here as its to do with one of my other cars, ie, not a 200.
Would a knackered turbo effect the top speed of a vehicle??
I'm still trying to get to the bottom of why my TD mondeo is soooo slooooooow. I can only just get 85mph out of it and 0-60 in about 26 seconds (down a slight slope aswell) :o I can hear the turbo whistleing slightly but can't feel it at all. I know its a diesel but my TD van goes like stink and I can really feel the turbo kicking in.
So basically, could the problem lie with the turbo or does a knackered turbo not effect the top speed?
Im not expecting many replies but its worth a go :)

Cheers,

Dave.

I think your prob is that it's a mondeo TD, That has to be the slowest diesel I've ever driven :hurl:
The mk2 was actually slower than the original to I found :wack:

Pump timing.
Any funny coloured smoke?
White=pump timing.

My mate had a TD mondeo and said he had 120 out of it. The owners manual says something like 110mph, I can just about get 85mph and in is stupidly sluggish, almost conks out up hills :wack:

It doesn't really smoke any more than I would expect from a diesel, in daylight I can't see any, only at night when I rag it I can see some smoke in peoples headlights, but not a lot.

Cheers,

Dave.

Turn the AC on if you have it - it killed the (already non-existant) permormance on the one I drove :smash: :wack:
