Motorstv will also be showing the event at a later date on TV. many other attractions will be in in place. A day not to be missed Drifter or not you'll love it. See you there!!!!!!!!!

18th July it looks like. Day after Round 3 at silverstone.... Why have we never heard of this lot before? Who are they? When did they get set up?
Site has a lot of tips on drifting but not a lot else.

Thats what I was thinking. Id have to go though, but would prefer him to do some exhibition runs at Silverstone than Birmingham Wheels if its happening.

the surface looks more like what is used in bangor racing than something say like silverstone

Yeah me too, but as said, that track is a) very, very small b) slippy (it is used for bangor racing!) and c) reaaally dangerous. Just ask newclearbomb, Brum wheel's first drift victim! If it is the oval (and i cant think of any other area on the site, we've walked around it looking...) then it wont be that much of a display :(

Wondering that too.. Plus, all of the content is copied from other drifting sites around the net.. :( Still, if its genuine, i'll go just to see Nomura! :D Would be better to see him at Silverstone so everyone can see how much the Japanese and the English drivers differ..

seems strange that a fairly basic website can organise someone so good to come over - they must have a bigger connection somewhere surely.
Anyone e-mailed them? I'm gonna

this smells of BS big style to me?

pretty sure if there was any chance of real D1 drivers coming over it would be through Option?

Matt_T

jesus! just looked at the site! doesn't appear to be a single word on there actually typed by whoever set it up, and not jusy copied and pasted from elsewhere! hahahahaha

PhilMorrison
07-06-2004, 19:18
absolute bollocks, why the f*ck would they do it at Birmingham wheels lol :D Myself James and Paz pushed that track as far as you can go, Ken would f*cking laugh his ass right out the country and never come back lol :ghey:

Matt_T
07-06-2004, 19:29
can any computer geeks f*ck up that site so nobody can see it? we just managed to stop being the armpit of the drifting world by having comps in the dry.
This will make us look like retards to everyone again:(

Then again, if he does turn up we're gonna feel real stupid! ahaha

you'd think anyone going to the trouble of sorting out a (crap) venue and bringing Nomuken over would also go to the UKD1 rounds, especially as he's all of 25mins away

PhilMorrison
07-06-2004, 19:53
Lol I wasn't going to post his address untill I'd recieved or not recieved a reply from him, but no worries ;)

The fact he lives miles away from wheels is just another reason to be entirly sceptical about this

Dirfto
07-06-2004, 19:55
i feel a bit embarased, seemed really good when i found it but general concensus seems to be that it is a load of bs. if it is real i would still love to see the monkey in action even at a dodgy venue if he doesnt see the oval and walk straight out.

does anyone have an email/ contact address for redline magazine, the site says that they are prob going...if they know nothing about it then it prob is a hoax.
And i will have to go into hiding because of the shame....and become a monk.

Dont be embarrassd mate, at least you found out about it which is more than anyone else here did.:)

Ive sent Mad Man Dan (Redline writer) a PM about this.

The more i look into it the more it looks like a wind-up. Especially the particularly un-defensive reply to phils post (which I think was possibly a little harsh, but interestingly should have provoked more reaction)

Contact Via Email only? no phone numbers? ...wierd.

Also like everyone has said, getting a JPD1 pro to drift a short oval? might as well use shoreham roundabout... :annoyed:

And you can gop there on a banger night and see twenty stripped granadas
drifting (all side by side!) :D

I'm tempted to buy a ticket... I've drifted wimbledon and eastbourne ovals in bangers, I'll do it again, but where does the cheque go?

Does anybody remember the guys plan from lock stock, selling the dildo's?
Well hmmm yeah...

From the 'merhandise' section of the same site...

I want a thong and a hat please Terry... I will be weraing them and (nothing else) at the next D1 event to put off all the other drifters and give me a chance of getting in the top 40.

S13 Gimp: my post on that board was possibly a little harsh, and a little snobish perhaps, but we (TNS,OPT,SXOC etc) are 'THE' U.K.'s premiere drifters, why have we never heard of this guy despite him living 25 miles away from Silverstone? and why has this not been advertised on every single bulletin board in the country? I was litterally just calling him out. His answer is:

I have written too the people who have a problem with drifting and to let anybody else know the event is to teach drifting to the newcomers and to improve the standard of the British driver to allow us to compete with them and not criticise every thing that dosen't fit into their small world

WTF does that mean? don't get me wrong I'm definatly seeing the funny side of this, and a small part of me hopes it might be true, but it is so far fetched it's going to take a helluva lot more pursuading for me to be a believer..

SteveCarter200

Thought that was quite ironic seeing as no one here (probably the most popular drift forum in the UK at the moment) has heard of him.:D

Id like to believe its happening, and id like to believe its happening on a differant track too.. Id love to see Nomura drive! But that track leaves little scope for him to stretch that ER34's legs..

My main concearn is for this "novice" section? If that means people who have not drifted before, then there is a super high chance of some BAD accidents.... Sure, i accept there is a risk of wiping out every time i drift my 86 but a major bonus of most venues is there aint much to hit! Like Phil said, we drifted there and went quite hard at it, and me and him came very close on more than one occasion and James came even closer :( If someone who's never drifted before has a run there they could wind up a touch upset as a single mistake can lead to the wall.

I E-mailed Dan yesterday and i saw it fit to mention this to him as well so i added it to the mail. I'll wait to see what he says?

Shame though, would be great to see a Pro Jap D1 driver in the UK - would be better at somewhere like Silverstone or Rockingham though.

Terry Colins has e-mailed me this, he is blatently avoiding any and all of our questions:

The idea of this event is to introduce the way drifting is done in Japan with techinique and skill in the sort of place used in the streets of Japan. we will be bringing 6 D1 cars at our next event so to compete you need to raise your standards and perhaps some courtessy should be shown as the sport of Drifting is open to all not just you.

and my response:

LOL 'some courtesy' okay.. Right, I may come across a little harsh, but drifting is something very big to me, I moderate the biggest drift forum in the U.K., I am currently joint 1st place in the U.K.D1 championship, and have got there because of my passion, and dedication to the sport.. I have never heard of you, you live 25 miles away from Silverstone, why have we never seen you at the U.K.D1 events? why are you organising an event at an awfull venue in Birmingham, when you live in Milton Keynes? and what proof are you providing that Ken Nomura (or any other JP D1 champs) are ACTUALLY going to turn up? I have Spoken to Mick (runs Birmingham Wheels) about organising a drift event there some time back, and by his own admission: Wheels was a very unsuitable venue..

As I said, Drift is what I'm all about, and my concerns about you, your website, and your event are justified, it is now your job to pursuade me that this is the truth!! and if/when you do so, I will spread the good word...

BULLSHIT

I've just been to speak face to face with Mick who runs Birmingham Wheels, he was made aware of this 1 week ago, it is NOT happening at Birmingham Wheels. Mick also mentioned that Terry had contacted Incar Race, and they had also told him that there was no chance of this going ahead at any of thier venues (and as a sidenote mentioned that they didn't trust the guy).. They are currently discussing action against the organisers of driftUK for the unauthorised use of the NIR name (Northampton Incar Race) on the website..

Basically, this for me proves that as suspected, this guy is full of sh!t, I suggest that all corespondence with him be ignored, and we make as many people aware of this bullshit as possible untill the website is shut down :)..

Say, in some wild flight of fantasy that this Terry guy does get Nomura over to the UK and clearly, he now has no track to hold his event on.. Nomura turns up, has spent alot shipping the car and he has no event to drive at?! Haha, hes often a happy chappy on video's but i know he'd be majorly pissed off and have one seriously tainted view of the UK because of one jerkoff letting him down. :( Im pretty sure word would get around with the Sun Pros/Video Option guys who run D1....
