View Full Version : Turbo timer?

Well I've finally got my Blitz FATT type S turbo timer installed, and it's all working okay, just one simple question - how does the TT work for keeping the engine running after switching the key off? As soon as I switch off, the engine stops, even with 30 seconds still on the clock.

Did you use a harness (loom), or cut it into the ignition iring?
Or, it could be you havn't wired in the handbrake wire correctly.
I also found with mine that say you pull up, handbrake on turning the key at the same time, it wouldnt time out.

Hope this helps

Matt

Thanks Matt, we used the wiring harness, didn't fancy cutting the wires. Too scary if I F'ed it up. The only "dodgy" connection was for the handbrake switch because it's such a tight cable. Guess I'll try and cut the wire and connect it to an earth and see if it works properly.

Off topic, tried the 0-60 measurement and got a disappointing 9.3 seconds. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif

I got it from Racelogic, via their web page, cost me £106.93 including the timer, harness and delivery. Wasn't difficult to fit once we found the proper connector to connect the harness to.

9.3 was with me and my brother in the car, both big skinheads, http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif and a full tank of petrol. Tried it again alone and almost an empty tank and got 8.5. Guess I'm needing more practice... http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif

BTW, the wire to connect to the handbrake hadn't made contact properly, so we've joined it properly and it's working fine now.

Would this turbo timer work with my immobiliser which switches off after about 20 seconds?

Spooky
25-06-2001, 14:20
Yes, because the immobilser doesn't actually immobilise until after the engine has been switched off for 20 seconds.

Spooky,

I don't suppose you want to write up how you fitted yours do you?

And anyone with an S14, if you could do an idiots guide (with me being the idiot) to fitting one of these little beauts, I would be really quite grateful.

Thanks,

Suppose I could knock up something, of course it would be an edited version, cutting out all the swearing, trying to locate the proper harness connector and all. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif

It's very easy if you get the harness.

Hi Spooky, how are you mate?
These Blitz turbo timers are a nifty piece of kit. Didn't realise there have only been 250 imported into this country!!!
I also bought the FATT type-S only a couple of weeks ago for £60 off my friend who had only just bought it then decided to sell his SX S13!!

Hi Guys,

New to this site, looks great and is bloody funny, especially the Road Kills section.

I am looking to fit the Blitz turbo timer to my '97 s14a cos I get bored waiting for the thing to cool down after ragging it. Question is: can I still arm my alarm whilst the motor is running? Will this cause the alarm to go off?

Cheers in advance

Just spoken to Racelogic, who reckon that I may need to get my alarm reprogrammed(?) if I fit a turbo timer.
Has anybody fitted the Blitz timer to their S14? I have the NATS alarm with the blue and the red buttons on.

Cheers

Nik

Don't really care about running engine after a run, just want a way of accurately recording 0-60 times, using the time counter on the cd player is not accurate, let alone safe. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif

Just tried to order a FATT type S from racelogic, not sure whether they still have any, or for that matter if I filled the form out right, but hey I may get one.
They need to invest in some web design, Mmmm maybe I should make them an offer... You Blitz up my car & I'll set you up a decent web site.

For that matter does anyone want any web work doing? Make my car rattle & smoke less and I'll sort you out. Bloody internet, it'll never catch on you know.

i thought TT's were ok unless its a cat1 alarm. Dunno though

Spooky

Hi cadburys man, they are a nifty piece of kit. Yes they only imported 250 of them. 60 quid for the TT is a very good price.

I've got a Cat 1 alarm and I could set the alarm, but the only thing is that I've got the anti hijacking door locking when the engine is started / unlocked when the engines turned off, and when the TT turns off the engine, the doors would unlock.

I've got a TOAD that locks the doors when the engine's on but I think it's just an alarm not an immobiliser. What's the number of your TOAD system (so that I can check)?

To avoid the inevitable (!) I've also got a frog that cleans the windows, a rabbit that mows the lawn and a gerbil that lives with Richard Gere.

That's not the filmstar Richard Gere, of course, it's the well known campanologist http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif.

OH, and Dave_S13: Thanks for the confirmation.

WooHoo, my FATTS arse TYPE-S has just arrived from racelogic.

Great as I've just decided to take the car off the road for a fixit session.

Best bit is I get £4.30 free stamps with it 'cos they aint been franked.

Maybe put it back on the road again briefly.
