I did, good viewing, but the selecting of Jane from the cards was a very cheap trick! And it was selective about what actually got shown to us.

The guy's mind-reading ability is impressive. In a short interview in this weeks 'TV Choice' (yeah, I know, I'm a pikey), Derren, in an attempt at being likeably self-effacing, says "Frankly I think I'm just a balding, goateed show-off".

Spooky - that was almost exactly what I was thinking at the time :)

But excluding the whole hoax of the night - is the actual story behind it true? they just used different students etc ?

The guy is an illusionist, simple as that. Everything he does has a perfectly normal explantation - he does indeed show the viewers how he does the 'tricks' sometimes. Like the time when he beat over half of the worlds champion chess masters all in simultaneous games.

I was doubting from the start whether some/all of the 'students' were actors. Some of their reactions seemed a little fake somehow.

the most impressive thing about the show last night was when he pciked up on that girl in the auditorium and guessed her grandmother called Nora.
That just shows how fake those TV mediums are (especially that bloody annoying Derek Akorah on Sky)

I saw him live in croydon theatre and he did this thing where he got a girl out the audience, made out he was speaking to her dead grandmother then asked everyone in the audience to say a letter - he went round randomly until a name was spelt and it was right... plus he does that drawing thing... dunno how he does it but he blows all the fakes out the water and I tend to think that he can do all the stuff he claims.

I must admit that a couple of people did seem like actors though... hopefully not the case, the dude at the beginning that was restrained and then sh*t himself and screamed was an excellent actor if he was one!

I'm sure I've seen the first girl on tv before (the one who goes behind the curtain), as far as I'm concerned its all a crock of sh1te, also, how the hell did he get them into a trance state so quickly? :confused:

That test is a load of tosh (as are his programs), and is based on the law of averages - the answers to all the questions are what most people would answer if they were pushed to give a quick answer.

The thing with the moving objects is utter borrocks. Ive seen how theyve done it. Why do you think its a blackout? They have a guy with a stick (yeah, really) who comes out of a cuboard once the lights goes out, pushes the cup over and hooks the ball on a piece of string to make it 'float'.

Utter borrocks.

Derren shot himself in the foot when he told us how he influinces peoples answers with images. The people picking London will have done so because Derren will have put pictures of the underground, Thames etc in the program so that the viewers and volenteers unconciously automatically think of Londow when asked to name a city.

The Jane thing was also tosh. Six squares down, two squares to the right etc, what nonsence, I could do that.

I find him absolutely fascinating. I don't believe he has any special powers and I don't think he thinks this either, he uses psychology and a good knowledge of the human brain to absolutely amaze people :)

i think the guy is awsome !! he doesnt pretend or claim to have any powers he just uses his knoledge of human behavior and he scares the shit out of me !!!!! :eek:

but pushing the cup over etc.. was all part of him showing that he could convince them that it was real, its all part of the show, subtle infuences that he knows will make you pick something, and most people will fall for it even experts, the one last week with the superstore designer, thats what he does for a living setting out the supermarkets, he was miss lead in to doing what Derren wanted him or expected him to do.

it just shows what you can learn if you people watch, and how gullable we humans can be.

Thats exactly the point he isunt trying to convince people that sayonce's really work or that vodoo dolls can have an effect on someone, hes just exposeing how gulliable some people are and how some of us belive things without any proof, and what that blind belief can lead us too.
