View Full Version : Win XP - does it stop crashing?
What is your view of Win XP - I've got ME and it crashes almost constantly (admittedly weve got loads of games) i.e. 2-3 times a day. Is XP more stable?
Cheers

Not had XP Pro Corp fall over yet (other than when I was trying to find the sweet spot for my 1800XP).
Much more stable than 98/Me.
Ive got ME on mine, had it for about 10 months and its only crashed twice.

I've tried running ME on two of my pc's and couldn't get either to run anywhere near stable. I've gone back to win98SE now but I wouldn't mind trying XP if it is any better.

You were faster than me until the green flag dropped!
I've finally been converted to XP at work after 2000 literally disintegrated around me.
It seems OK, although I still get plenty of hangs and crashes. It's favourite trick is not to open certain word docs on request and then to believe that they are open...
Back to 95 is my honest assessment - used that OS for years with few problems...

I get this with Win2K Pro anyone know a cure ?
Had an overheating problem with XP at first but it rules now.
Process_locked_pages... BSOD when overheated.

I had initial probs with XP crashing when having multiple spread sheets open, also it didnt like some of the programs I had. It would run them ok after instalation and then after a reboot they wouldnt run. Did the windows & Office update and everything is fine now. Boot's up realy fast as well, this is probably the only time you'll here me say it but I think it's quite good.

I agree , XP is good , i've had it from release date and no crashes , did have a couple of progs that didn't work though , like Easy CD creator , but patches are out for most things now.
Its very stable , very pretty to look at and easy , my kids use it on their PC too , and they are 9 & 6.
