View Full Version : It's time to decide
Time has come to decide on the Mustang's paint job, and I'm still unsure. She is going to be blue and I am keeping the rear louvres and spoiler. So do I:
- blue all over with no stripes, etc
- put the Boss stripes back on (I'm not too keen on this as I don't like making a car look what it isn't)
- have a thick black strip down the bonnet (looks quite good actually but I can't find any piccies  )
I just don't know what to do. Any other suggestions (that don't contain the word yellow :whip: )

yellow with a black bonnet :wack: ;)
blue all over sounds nice

That's what I'm thinking, but I'm not sure whether it would be too much blue as it is quite bright. Also imagine no black scoop on the bonnet.

Dark metallic blue with a white stripe (where the grey one is at the moment) would look very :notworthy

in agreeance there (but then I like dark blue cars ;) ) although not sure about the stripe idea. Colour sounds about right though :)

Come on! You cant have a big yank muscle car without the stripes!!

that is an awful lot of blue and even more so without the black scoop
with that colour i think you need the stripe in a darker colour, maybe even its current grey/black just to break it up a bit
will need a stripe or something ...will be too blue without :)
will make it look even bigger than it is :indiff:
The stripe on her at the mo is one of those matt, reflective sort of thing (shows white is some photos/light). I like the stripe on them, but she isn't a Boss so I don't really want to put a Boss stripe on. The other option I suppose is to have the stripes painted on but leave out the 'Boss 302' wording. That would break the blue up a bit.
The colour is a definate and not changeable.
Orange with a reflective Boss 302 stripe looks ace

Sometimes you are no help :whip:
Actually even if I do nothing, she won't be orange for long. New front wings, bonnet, doors (second hand so no idea what colour they are  ) new boot lid, rear panel (bumper and below)

seen one near me with 2 stripes quite thick running up the bonnet over the roof and down the boot it looks :notworthy all blue from side but broken up from front and rear
White viper stripes
a nice 70s or 80s light blue or light purple/orange imo
I'm not quite so keen on metalic fastbacks.

Rosso Chairo.
Tho it probably wouldn't do for this car, moonstone blue? ( the lightblue Lotus sunbeam colour), silver ?, Estoril Blue? ( BMW colour), British racing green Metallic with old english white stripe?
difficult call.
Blue with black stripe is good, tho I think a white one would be better.
Starsky and Hutch stripes
What color is the interior?
Firstly - THE COLOUR IS DECIDED AND IS NOT UP FOR CHANGE :annoyed:
Leon - the interior is black and will have the woodgrain inserts (when we get around to finding a new wiring loom $700  and changing it)
I like the racing stripes, but not on my car. Also with over £10,000 already spent on her, and a house move soon (hopefully) we really haven't got a lot of cash spare for an expensive paint job  I just want to make her look nice and pretty :smitten:

Okay read your post properly,
blue (but what colour, dark / light etc) the louvre has to be black IMO, no Boss stripes, as you say its not a boss/ Shelby, why fake it, as for the bonnet I would go for body colour, unless there is something in the cars history that dictates a black bonnet.

Nah, I can't bring myself to say it again ;)
I think it will need a stripe to break up the blue a bit
Either a single white stripe or twin white ones straight down the center line

The blue is the colour blue in the piccie in the link. The louvre and rear spoiler will be a matt black (standard).
FMG - :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy
The stripe kits available is either the Boss stripe, or a C stripe, but the C stripe is wrong for the year. I will try and find a piccie of one.
