I'm seriously considering buying a Digital Camera after next pay day.

How many people have them and does anyone have any advice?

Don't really want to spend lots on one because I'd rather spend it on the car, do I need to spend around £200 or £500?

Any guidance appreciated.

Fujifilm do a nice range

I use at the moment a finepix 2400Zoom
about £250 2.1Mpixels 3x optical zoom
takes smart media and has usb.

It's not to greedy with the batteries I tend to cycle 2 sets of re chargeables.

picture reproduction is superb. I'll dig one out

Me and JohnD76 are using Fuji 6900 zoom.

6 million pixels!! http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/eek.gif

AMAZING picture qulaity and functions, good battery life and will take 128mb smart media (£42) which will hold around 400 pics in normal format.

Look on the net for the best price, got mine for £500.

Cheers, I've borrowed my Dads camera in the past.

Ive had a Fujifilm Finepix 2600Zoom for Christmas, and i have to say, im over the moon with it.

2megapixels (pics are as good as ill ever need), can take lots of 20 second Mpg clips (no sound, 10fps) and the batteries last ages and are recharable anyways...

Got mine for £300 (i think it was that much, although ive seen them on the net for £250)...

I have a Fuji 2.1 mega pixel, but as it gives great shots on the basic settings I could have bought the 1.3 like one of my friends did which provides excellent shots. Most come with a 4 or 8mb media card standard, I recommend buying an additional 32mb card. Jessops are cheap for these. Reminds me I must take some snaps for me profile! http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif

Well I've just got a Kodak DX3600, with the easy share dock. 2.2 mega pixels, 6 x zoom, 8 MB internal memory, (plus a 64 MB card) good for just under 400 pictures on good quality, and it's also a digital camcorder. Great pictures, and all you have to do is dock the camera and press the transfer button to get the pics on your computer. I got mine for £280 all told. Oh plus when the camera is docked, it automatically keeps the batteries fully charged.

Just bought a Minolta S304 with batteries,charger and 64MB Flashcard for £380 pounds from www.internetcamerasdirect.co.uk (http://www.internetcamerasdirect.co.uk)

It has 3.3mega pixels, 4*optical and 2*digital zoom, loads of other stuff that I still haven't sussed out yet. After quite a bit of research this was the best camera I could find for the money.

It was released at the same time as its big brothers the Dimage5 and Dimage7 so didn't make much of an impact. It has alot of the same internal components so is very well spec'd and should retail for £5-600 but as its been overlooked you can pick one up for £320 from the place mentioned above.

Its worth looking at www.dpreview.com (http://www.dpreview.com) to get an idea of what is available and also checking out the forums as they're packed with info.

Hope this helps
