win 2k (and XP) still wont recognice more than 130gb (127gb ish) system partions....
it doesnt even recognise it as 160gb as unpartitioned space tho
just trying to add it as an additional drive

I though 127.5 was the limit under FAT32, NTFS is 2 terrabytes IIRC
should be yeah
bios sees it as 160gb
disk management only sees it as 127gb with or without partition

Try getting a vendor driver for the onboard controller rather than using windows own.
Otherwise install XP + SP1 again
got the latest via hyperion drivers loaded already and there arent any bios updates or newer drivers available from the mobo manufacturer

some days I really hate computers :annoyed:
xp with sp1 will do it defo.. i had this problem earlier this week with a clean install of non sp1 confusing me...new space just appears in local disk management when you slap sp1 on.
managed it in the end
used maxblast 3 to do something then it eventually picked it up as (my bad) 300gb drive

LOL..The max Blast software has just fudged it...
Is your onboard controller ATA100 or 133 as there is a 127Gb Limit on ATA100 ;)
