Heya guys
Just really need help with drifting technique...feel so stupid and crap and need some help and advice as to what to do.
Been out sorta practicing(private roads!) trying to learn how to drift as im newbie and get rear end out...problem is all i get is lots of understeer and cant seem to twitch rear end out at all/much!!
try getting right on edge of max torque range then boot it whilst turning...nothing, tried throwing weight one way then the other...nothing but understeer.
car is on standard suspension but surely it shud still drift.
plz help...need techniques on how to get rear end out n hold it out!
Get yourself down to the next practice day, as the people that will teach you areprevious winners at D1, so know what they are on about.

now i would but freaks me out knowing that people be watching me make arse of myself understeer n throw it into every gravel trap on the circuit.
plus be daunting c-ing people slide it around like pros!!
would rather know a bit first before!
Absolutely no need, dude. No one will be laughing at you anymore than you'll be laughing at yourself when you spin:nod:
It's the best place to learn, no doubt.

On your private road try clutch kick. Basically just turn into the bend and bang the clutch down and release it straight away, keeping the revs on while you do it (dont do it near the redline as you'll hit the rev limit). Make sure you have a wide open space though as I can pretty much guarantee it'll suprise you how much the back end will come out.
In fact, try it in a straight line in the wet, just so you have some idea what happens to the rear wheels.
I take it youve got an LSD?

I'd suggest to come along to one of the practice days, you'll have the whole day, lots off peeps will offer advice & suggestions.
1 day and you'll have the basics & there no possibility of going through a hedge backwards

Agreed.
Just as you approach the turn, dip the clutch, boot up the revs and bring the clutch back up, hard. You do have to be quite brutal with it to make it unstick, but the standard LSD seems to lock up better with violent applications of power than gradual increases.
Best of luck mate,
astraboy.
Been out sorta practicing(private roads!)
I wrote off a car on a "private" road and learn't my lesson fast. I would highly recommend coming to a practice day where you can learn without risk. I'm in Aylesbury which isn't far from Oxford, we could both head over to the next closest drift practice if you want. Plenty of people will be there who can help and also offer you a passenger ride to get the feel for it.

Quick pointer!
Clutch kicking is also the quickest way to put your car into a spin, even if your good at it, especially in the wet, learn it at a practice event only.
Unless you like ploughing & hedge trimming that is........
