I don't believe it.

I bought my dad a Rover 820 Si automatic 6 weeks ago, to replace the Renault Safrane that he traded in for the S13 that my little brother wrote off this summer. Confused yet? I am. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif

Anyway, it cost me just under 800 quid, and it wasn't too bad, a dent in the bonnet, had been keyed down the side, but not too bad.

I had to drive it to work last week because little bro borrowed mine (I must be mad!) because his exhaust needed replacing.

As I'm driving to work at 50 mph, the car is in 4th gear at a steady throttle position, and it keeps dropping into neutral, then back into 4th. As I got onto the dual carriageway doing 70, the car changed into 3rd, then 2nd, and then I stuck it into neutral, freewheeled it into a layby, and checked the gearbox oil because I was worried that it had run dry. Turns out it had plenty of oil and the actual gearbox was knackered!

I'm looking at roughly 2 grand to get the car repaired, so I got it scrapped instead. But since the summer the accident has cost me roughly £3,000!!! And now I'm not even sure if I'm going to get another 200 in the spring, honestly don't think I can afford it.

Oh well. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif

How's about 'king automatics! http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif

It's not worth it really I'm afraid. It's got an oil leak from the head gasket (I say leak, it's more like a blooming river!) and needs a new CV joint. My mate will do them, but it'll cost 400 quid for that alone, so it's really not worth it.

Thanks for that mate, it is an old dog, and I didn't even want him to get it, but that's what dad wanted, and that's what he got.

Rovers should be avoided.

I had a 1994 200GSI for just under a year and in that time the Headgasket went and the clutch exploded (not just wore out but exploded!!!)

Piece of ****!

Rover drivers are as bad as Jag drivers so don't be one of them, but you should have a go at whoever sold you the "Rover"

Can't mate, got it from a salvage place, it had been impounded after the owner was caught smuggling cigs and booze in, and I've got no come back. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif
