Kwik fit strikes again. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/mad.gif
I'm well pissed off. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/mad.gif
2 weeks ago my brakes on my little 1.4 R19 started playing up so I booked it in with them saying they were binding really badly and needed sorting out.
Got the car back, no more binding. Great I thought......
However, last night they started binding AGAIN and I thought for fcuks sake what the hell is wrong now?!?!? Got home parked up and left it overnight, only to use it this morning and finding the brakes are now fcuking terrible.
Anyhows, driving down the M25 about 70-80mph on my way to work come off onto the slip road for Bromley and hmmm getting some bad brake fade and I haven't used them for 20mins..... I keep driving, albeit more carefully only to come up on traffic ahead, take my foot off the accelerator and *WHAM* the brake pedal hits the floor with NO RESISTANCE WHATSOEVER. **** **** **** oh my god I'm gonna crash http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/eek.gif. I yank the handbrake I'm slowly stopping but not quick enough, so I turn towards the pavement and slap the car up the kerb. It comes to a halt with my foot flat to the floor on the brake pedal and the handbrake yanked right up. Honest to god I thought I was gonna have a really bad crash. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif
So I call up a friend and he tows me to the kwik fit that did the brakes in the first place, I WASN'T happy. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/mad.gif I told them to sort it pronto, I was still quite upset. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif
My question is, do I sue the b@stards?

If something was damaged through the run over the kurb I'd definitely sue them.
Otherwise... dunno.
Depends how much you're pissed methinks.
Try to get a price reduction or some other sort of arrangement.
Going through court with lawyers and all this would be too time consuming and complicated (for me)

Hmmm w**kers me think!!
Don't know if i would trust em to do any more damage to your car?! As for suein em you would need proof that what they had done caused the problem, but its worth lookin into me thinks? May earn a few quid out of em!! http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif
I'd check with either the CAB or a Solicitor on where you stand on the matter.
Go along to see the Kwik fit Manager, explain the situation and insist they cover your costs and maybe some form of compensation.
I find this approach is better than threatening legal action straight away.
Good luck.

Yeah, they are inspecting the car now. When he calls I'm gonna say "do it free of charge and gimme some compensation or i'll kick your arse big time".
http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/mad.gif Let this be a lesson to everyone though, kwik fit are bleeding appalling. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/mad.gif
Depends what has caused the brake failure?
The brake binding sounds like a knackered caliper, so not sure what you could do about that. As for the brake failure, if it is something they have touched them its worth a go, however, if its a brake line that has split or something like that (just coincidence its happened after a visit to **** fit) then Im not sure there is anything you can do http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/confused.gif

They have a guarantee so take it back and ask them WTF they are playing at. As stu says though, if it was a brake pipe or summat, then you prolly arent going to get anything http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif
Having said that about their guarantee, I once took my Orion in to have the zorst done. They sorted it, and I was a happy bunny till it started blowing again. Took it back expecting them to fix it for free and got this:
"Yer engine mounts are gone mate - we cant touch it till you sort them out"
"Surely they were gone when you fitted the exhaust 2 weeks ago though??"
"Yeah, whoever did it shouldnt have fitted it" http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/mad.gif
Result: 3 hours without car and £35 at my local garage to get it sorted. ****ers.
Their insurance is shyte too.
Glad you cam through it tho rave - having no brakes isnt much fun is it?? (speacially not when you are driving your old mans car and had fried the brakes through racing ....... http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/rolleyes.gif )

Sticking calipers is quite common, and is often caused by naff dust seals letting moisture in. It often cures itself after fitting new pads, BUT it is only temporary.
Trouble is, once they've seized and been freed off, then there's a load of rust and crap in there which will eat the fluid seals if not removed. WD-40 works but rots rubber (albeit slowly) so is not a good idea. Dismantling is the only safe option, and given Kwik-Fit's self-declared status as *Brake specialists*, they should fecking well know this!
Tea-break specialists, more like..... http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/mad.gif
Kwik-Fit suck.
I put a golf GTI in their Watford garage about 4 years ago for new brakes. When I picked it up the roadhandling was all over the place. I had a good look and found that the front nearsidge McPherson Strut mounting was completely cracked and the strut was wobbling about in the top. Apparantly they had stuck it on their hyrdaulic ramp but two wheels were hanging off the edge and when they started to lift it, it slipped off and crunched 18" to the ground. I only found this out when their Regional manager for Herts came to my house the next evening with apologies, booked my car in for a welding job and handed me a fat £500 for my trouble and to keep my gob shut !

This is EXACTLY what I said when I originally booked it in:-
ME:- "Hi, I need to book my car in the brakes are absoulutly terrible,"
Him:- "Yes sir, thats no problem"
ME- "Also, the brakes appear to be binding very badly and I think its the calipers that are causing it, can you check it out and make sure they are working properly"
HIM:- "Yeah that's no problem, they're just pulling abit are they?"
ME:- "yes and its becoming a real pain in the arse"
I remember the conversation perfectly, christ it was only 2 weeks ago!!
Now, I reckon I'm WELL within my rights to complain. ALSO on the repair sheet it says they checked for binding and found the pads to be sticking, and they'd sorted it. Well obviously they hadn't and I reckon its incompetence plain and simple.
I'm taking this really seriously, if it had happened on the M25 I'd be dead.
Technically nothing has been "Said", as long as your gob was shut as you typed http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif

Check with citizens advice or trading standards b4 u talk to them again, that way u know what ur entitled to.
Even if it was a brake pipe that burst, u just say that u told them to check the brakes out, and they obviously didnt check them properly.
Bottom line is they wont want bad publicity.

I have spoken to the trading standards and explained in detail what happened. They seem to think I have grounds for compensation.
I'll let you all know what happens.

Took my 'P' reg Honda Accord 2.0ils into them for tracking to be done.......
ended up that the steering wheel was 3/4 turn out and the car was all over the place.
When I phoned and went to the next nearest kwikfit found them all huddled under the car and wispering. Went up to them and asked WTF was going on and they pointed to all of the parts that hadn't been retightened and they said I should probably be dead now....
They gave £1000 comp...

A friend took his Mini Cooper into Kwik fit for 2 front tyres. At the time I worked for a company not far from the kwikfit branch. As I was walking to work I saw my mate come screaming past me in his car. Odd I thought? He went up to the end of the road (dead end) HURLED the car round, sreechy, screeechy tyre noises, and went bombing back up the road. Only prob was that my mate wasn't driving. It was some monkey in a blue boiler suit thrashing the nuts of my mates car!!!
I called him to let him know what I had just witnessed and when he questioned them when he picked it up they said they were "road testing it!!!!!!" "Road test my feckin' arse" he replied and told them what I had saw and gave him his tyres free!!!!! IMHO they are a bunch of useless ****s who have been proven by numerous sources to be incompetent and overcharge. I would never let them near one of my cars let alone touch something as vital as brakes. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/mad.gif
