Hi all,
I just took my mate for a spin in my AE86, and the rally spec fuel tank I just recently had fitted lost electrical power (the fuse must have gone), I'm assuming the guy who fitted the tank used the original fuel pump wires etc.
Q. Any idea where the fuse for the fuel pump resides? (I'm at work on nightshift at the mo, otherwise I could have called the garage that fitted the tank).
the manual should list where the fuse boxes are. the covers of jap cars tend to have a small schematic of the fuses and relays within, on the inner side of the cover.
I don't know where the fuse boxes are in the 86 but googling might help.
Alternatively some kind soul might know, or have the owners manual ;)

might help.

ATrull,
Thanks for all your info & help, I totally forgot I've got AA cover, I just called them, so at least I won't be stuck in Milton Keynes (I live in Bedford). They will arrive in 45mins and hopefully sort it out.
Thanks again

I'm actually glad the teething period showed it's ulgy head now, imagine paying for drift day, making the trip to Silverstone and then breaking down.

The AA checked my AE86 out and found the new race spec fuel pump is faulty.. just my luck
Thanks again, you guys are a helpful bunch
If you need any advice or anything, there are quite a few 86 owners on here, and if you feel really lucky, I might be able to help you in my rather limited capacity :)
Glad to see paz's old levin still in active duty :D ... always loved that car

Thanks! Car is great when it is working, I'm actually not that suprised with todays events, I have a phase of bad luck that has always haunted me
When I 1st bought the car, in 2 weeks of owning the car, I managed to put several holes in the original fuel tank (It was quite badly corroded anyway), I hit a bump and voila fuel pizzing everywhere (lucky no one flicked their fag butts) :ghey: out of their passing cars.
Then the garage that fitted the new custom built alloy fuel tank took almost 3 months getting the job done (that's another story).
I have now only had the car back since last week friday and the NEW fuel pump conks out of me... (Pazza wasn't into Voodoo was he???)
So now the car will be towed in the morning to the same garage to get a new fuel pump fitted :furious: :annoyed:
Not shocked by any of that at all, just sounds like an AE86 in it's initial stages ;) I had plenty on problems on mine, but as long as you are aware you are going to get them, it's ok ;)
You know you should start getting worried when you buy a new or recon part for your hachi and start saying to yourself "This isn't a part for my car.... it hasn't got anywhere NEAR enough corrosion on it" :wack:

Man! ain't that the truth :D
I'm sure once this is sorted, it should be OK for a while, couple of other things I will need to do is get the Valve stem seal replaced & also the rocker cover gasket needs replacing (hopefully not urgent yet).
I have ordered my race suit, helmet etc yesterday, so hopefully I will get to meet you guys at Silverstone on the 17th, BTW who do I pay for the event, and also if anyone knows, if a friend wants to tag along as a passenger apart from the £10 cost (or is it £20) does he require a race suit and helmet as well???
Cheers
