Saw this is fast car, was the cover car a few months back.
Supposedly got 240bhp, sitting on 19" alloys, and supposedly he's "blown away scoobys, porkers, etc....." hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
240hp in a little nova is a scary amount though, would get through dirveshafts like tissue paper!!!

I'd imagine if he can drive properly then he would be able to beat standard scoobys. But maybe I'm wrong.
I like the colour, bodywork is a bit too over the top for a little Nova.
U can try to hide it all u want under a huge bodykit and loads of fiberglass.
BUT WE CAN SEE ITS STILL A NOVA!!!!!

If he can get good traction he should be able to beat modded scoobies.

200bhp from a Red-Top with a chips and some cams? 165 would be closer.
And bike speedo's have to be most optimistic on the planet.
Not having a pop at you, just sounds like an enthusiastic dyno to me.
My mate spent nearly £21,000 getting a GM Red Top to turn out 275bhp @ 9200rpm. It was more or less a touring car engine.
My Calibra Turbo has 270-odd and the 4wd struggles to put that down in the wet, so gawd knows what 270 is like through a flexible little nova chassis
Theres a bloke at our Motor club with his own tuning business - and he specialises in the 2.0 16V motors. He generally fits them to Mk2 escorts for rallying / sprinting, he has his own rollers, and gets just a shade under 200bhp from just head work http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/eek.gif
As for the top speed, I belive that most of the 2.0 16V Novas - arround the 200bhp mark do get to 140 - 145 mph, well off the std clocks, dont think any where ever supposed to go that fast http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif

Hmmm, I sense an argument developing here.
Assuming a standard injection system, with a Chip, and a set of Cams.
Courtenays cams add just 10% overall, whilst a chip, pipe, and filter on an N/A DOHC won't do much more than 15% overall gain.
Add carbs or throttle bodies, and then you've got the makings of 200bhp.
There aren't major gains to be had on flowing and porting modern 16v heads, as they pretty good to start with.
And if you feel the need to get a Nova to do 145mph (which I admit is perfectly feasible with a 2.0 16v) then you really should seek professional advice as to the whereabouts of your marbles.
Personally, I think that looks stupid. But I don't agree with the comment of "you can't polish a turd." Most people can't get their license and jump behind the wheel of a 200 at the age of 17. For the money and the cost of the insurance a nice clean Nova SR is a bloody good first car. Mine was. Don't get me wrong, tarted up ones with daft bodykits, huge wings and neon washer jets look toss. But a clean, standard car (like mine, an F plater with 11701 miles on the clock when I bought it) will drive and handle better than almost anything else you could start driving on.

I agree JUT,i just bought my missus a 1.3 SR,totally standard(still goes well for what it is though)but most of all it is soooooo cheap to run and well easyy to drive. No complaints about the cute litte cereal box really. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif
What a load of boll**ks! Even with comparable power, there's no way that thing can launch off the line like a 4wd impreza or lancer. And round corners, forget it! What a waste of money!

Fair comment, god help us if 17yr olds could jump straight into 200's http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/eek.gif We'd all have to buy Skylines to blow them off http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif
I just don't see the point in modifying a nova or any shopping trolley to that extent.
Its all a bit sad really http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif

To me, it just looks like the bloke's trying to make a Pulsar...
Never driven a Nova, never want to! I started off with vintage VWs and somehow even knocked the Nova boys (of which there are thousands in Crawley) off at the lights.
I still don't know how I managed it with my little 1.2 and hefty bodywork (the car's not mine...).
Still... I'd have thought that a better car for a new driver to have would be a lovely little Polo.
