I just bought a PS2 at the weekend and of course bought GT3 :-P Anyone know how to turn my traction control and spin control off, I am fed up with games going all namby pamby and giving me driver aids ;-P

I turned it off in the options but it's still there, do I need to turn it off in the car setups menu?

Yes, you have to disable them (or reduce their strengh: there are 10 levels) in each car's settings.
The option you disabled in the options menu is only taken in account for the 'arcade' mode.
But believe me, when you'll reach high power RWD cars, you'll want to activate them a little...
By the way, my missus offered me the force feedback steering wheel for christmas (ain't she nice ? http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif) ... You've got to try this!

Hope it helps

Yeah, I have it sussed now :P been practising with my 790Bhp Corvette Z06, and my 500BHP 200SX http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif... I have totally turned off spin control and now the cars all feel a lot sharper to drive.

Anyone got any car setup tips to get the most "driveable" sideways action, since lift off oversteer doesnt work too well in this game :-P

Try to buy different tyres: the "first" set will give you rough action (standard ones? I think, well, the non-sport/slick ones).
You can use the handbrake too: rev up hard, and then release the handbrake!

Hope it helps

I'm 97% thro the game without any driver aids on, having finished the arcade level with "complex string" on the time trial remaining. If you want some fun sideways action use a tuned up ep82 Trueno or one of the Lotus elise in the wet! http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif I'm now cracking on thro WRC.

Yes,

GTA3 is one (if not THE) greatest game ever!
My English is not good enough to express what it's like, (and my boss wouldn't like me to spend too much time on the subject http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif), but believe NikB and me, get it, (or steal it from a friend! http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif), you'll certainly be amazed!

Drivable sideways action? You mean drift! http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif
yeah, i got tons of setups that i can basically drift an entire track with, but they take some practice...

Try somthing like this:

RPS13 180SX
300+hp (I have 2, 300hp and 450hp)
Full racing Suspension
Racing Brakes
Flywheel and stuff including good clutch

You can have a racing box, but i dont bother... Then have Super Soft Racing Slicks up front, Normal tyres at the back and most importantly a 2way or Fully Customisable LSD. If you have the Custom LSD, set the acceleration and lock up to max and leave the deceleration as it is.

Suspension setting should the usual, lowered to the max and anywhere from 6kg/mm to 14kg/mm on your shocks. I use about 6-7 so the car has some tolerance for ****e driving http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif
Set your dampers hard, say 7 front and rear and your stabiliser bars should be hard, say 5-6 again.
Then, you want 5 degrees Camber up front, and 2-2.5 at the back depending on hp. (More hp = more camber)

When you drive, just turn in early (like way before the Apex) and floor it in say 2nd gear... Now get ready to slam the opposite lock on quicker than you would ever think you should... When the car is sideways just play with the throttle and steering input to take the turn with constant opposite lock. If you want to correct your drift angle, dab the handbrake. Also, use the analogue input, digital just isnt up to it...

Takes a lot of practice tho http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif
