If so whats it like?
I want a job thats mainly problem solving and has a lot of variety.. so I thought that could be for me.. is it anything like that?
I don't really know what sort of consultancy I want to do -Id do IT (one of my main interests) but my degree is in accounting and finance (if I pass ) so I dunno if a management accountancy type thing would be better..
anyone know of any other jobs I might like? I don't really care if it pays well I just want decent prospects and something that will motivate me -I hate being a student and can't wait to get a job and do something all day.
cheers for your thoughts..

I work for PwC, doing management accounts for mid size companies. Obviously apply to the large companies. Stay away from auditing, you get to stay away at crap places and there's little variety year after year.

My job is varied but it still does my head in. Its just not interesting enough for me.

Stick to something you find interesting.........

i totally agree. if theres one thing this degree has taught me its youll never excel at something that doesnt interest you -its hardly a new or clever point but I certainly didnt think it through when signing up.
Im pretty shafted as far as big firms are concerned as I have shagged my degree completely due to finding it totally depressing. the only things I am interested in are operations research (process analysis and stuff) and management accounting. despite getting an 89 in OR last year they make up little of my course so im sitting on a pass/third -but I have AAB at a level so I should be able to convince them im not totally stupid. -a lot do specify 2:1 only though so I just need to get a foot in the door somehow.

one of my housemates is going to be working with oracle for delloite starting sept(30k plus 10k signing fee in his first year the jammy git!!). -Id love to do that but Id like to get some hands on experience first-is there any lackeys of the consultants that get to know the systems well so I could get experience without so much responsibility and ridiculous working hours so in a few years I could get the decent positions?

cheers for the help..
