First tuned car you see is a....wait for it....200SX S14a!
Apart from the black Civic's but they don't count!
Also a nice bit where said S14 gives an RX7 a good spanking!
Storyline's somewhat lacking but who cares with all those sexy cars.
Go and see it ASAP!

Think it has been done before m8, but has anyone noticed following points...
1. At start our heroes car 'tops out' at 140mph. He thaen attempts a race with an RX-7, won't these things do about 160 in standard form?
2. Later in film in the Supra they take on a ferrari f355 - this car has only got 400bhp and the supra only just seems to beat it. Therefore can anyone explain how he manages to keep pace with that 900bhp monster towards the end??????

1. He races the RX-7 after the addition of NOS. But still, have you watched the speedo during the "race" - it seems to be able to move by 20mph in the space of a second or two, when the camera's on it, and then not move for the next 10 secs while we get cut-away shots of Vin Diesel's triceps!
2. The Supra was aimed at being a "10 second car". I think the f355 is around that mark - the 360 certainly is. And to be fair, when they get to the higher speeds in this race, the supra does leave it pretty convincingly.

These cars ar 10second cars right ??? .... how come in that 10 seconds these guys have enough time to look away from the road chech there manifold temperature on their laptop (which is sitting quite happily, untethered on the passenger seat), realise the lap top has crashed, hit it a couple of times, get it working, discover that the manifold is past critical temperature but decide to continue anyway blah blah blah.
all of this in 10 seconds ? .... with a boot filled with amps neon kits and subs ??

The race with Vin Deisel is a 10 second 1/4 mile that has been fleshed out to 2 mins of actual footage. This proabably explains why the speedo didn't change much in 10 seconds or so.
Did you know that that race is all computer generated? The placed the actors in the cars using green/blue/indigo/mauve/violet screen, or whatever they are calling it today.
Top film, top cars, good ending.

Pol, I don't think the Supra used any NOS with the Ferrari, and it was done for effect. Hence the reason the Ferrari is in the film and why they show the Bentley/RR getting Uzified. Cheap cars can be made to go faster and be better than supercars, is the point I think they are trying to get across. And most people think that Ferrari's are the fastest thing ever.

Just to point out, my friends MK2 golf 16v with just a performance air filter and exhaust gets 140mph along the local Thant way stretch.So how come a V-tech (160bhp i standard form(20bhp on the golf)) WITH a turbo AND nitrous only manages 140mph???Then slides to stop at then end of the race without crashing everywhere?!?!
just got my region 1 copy from amazon.com,saw it twice in the cinema too i love it!! one thing i did notice is that in the street race, i would love to know what vehicle Hecter and a few other people were in to get from the start line to the finish before the racers!!slight continuity error there me thinks!

Tis a sweet film for us no doubt, but the story is near enough identical to Point Break, quarter of the way through I told my mate exactly what was gonna happen, because you can blatently tell where the story outline was taken from.

A Honda V-Tec will have a much more accurate speedo than a Mk11 Golf, your mate isen't really doing 140mph when it reads that on his speedo, I had a Mk11 Golf GTI 16V and the speedo accuracy is ****e. When we put timing gear on it when it read 142mph we were only really doing 125mph.

I'm making the frighteningly broad sweeping assumption that they're talking about a 10 seconds to 100mph car. To be doing a quarter mile in 10 seconds from standstill requires (at a very basic estimate, assuming linear acceleration, which doesn't happen) to be doing about 180mph in the 10 seconds. The Maclaren does 0-100 in 6.3 secs (ish), which with a non-linear acceleration curve potentially fits with a standing quarter in about 11-12 seconds.

He looks under the "hood" of the DSM (Mistubishi Eclipse) and he mentions seeing some make or other of turbine? The engine in question in that particular scene is a Naturally Aspirated lump.
And then when they get the knackered Supra on the lorry and that same wizkid fella states that its the 2JZ GTE, which denotes the Twin Turbo Supra unit? Its actually, again, a Naturally Aspirated engine.
And then there is those big gay stickers...
And the crappy paint jobs...
And the floor falls out of the DSM, but then comes back when that dood gets in... Infact, that entire car seems to repair itself constantly...

U can pick holes in any film. This film has got fast as **** cars - most of which are jap imorts which is what most people on this board like so why don't u just watch and enjoy.

When you watch a film, you expect it to be flawed, all of them are! I enjoyed it so much because it was about fast modded jap cars, had some cool shots and driving, some fine birds, and importantly, was (critically) crap and mindless - a real "two bags of popcorn" film. The Fast and the Furious is a **** film, which is full of holes but there's something about all them jap cars that makes me want to watch it again and again - even if they do have horrid paint jobs and stickers down the side. And that Green Eclipse just sounds amazing!!!
P.S. Paul Walker is a **** actor, and I can't stand his accent.

Enough Criticsm of the movie guys - its just a movie with loads of inconsistencies.
Its got a crap storyline, nice cars, and cool soundtrack (IMO). Personally, I like its fast pace and sound affects when watch thru a full DTS system.
However, I was watching a documentary called Street Racers on TV over the weekend where the real races take place in Canada. It was all about the cops trying to put a stop to the whole thing and getting the guys to race on proper race courses and drag strips. The Canadians ARE VERY serious about quarter mile times. The fastest car was a Honda Civic Hatch doing a quarter mile in 12 secs - they wouldn't divuldge how much BHP it had though.

Haven't seen it yet, but it's got Jap cars in, i'll just skip the boring bits.
My missus thinks the film just has cars in it, so the bits with birds in, may have to be wotched when she's not about. I'll post my vericts later.
