Hmm.. the US guys argue all day long about what the engine will take on "stock internals". And true, they have built some crazy Supras over there with as much as 800 rwhp without so much as putting a metal HG in. Some of them claim to be running 400 or more HP on a turbo'd KA (their 240SX engine) without going inside the engine. Its a different way of thinking to over here where you tend to strengthen everything before increasing the power.
But if you were going for it you would more than likely replace most of the internals rendering the argument more or less irrelevent? The Supra engine can probably take more without going internal anyway..
I take it everyone does know that the American BHP figures are about 20% more than ours.......

American Horse Power was calibrated from the power of the American Quarter Horse, famed for being the fastest horse over a quarter mile. However, they were technically ponies, because they were four inches too short to qualify as a horse. As such, they horses power is less than say a UK Shire Horse.
And if you believe that, you'll believe anything. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif
Much of it comes from the americans dynoing the engine on a bench with all ancillaries removed.
