Yes I know it's totally off topic but here goes anyway.
It was Christmas eve and all through the house, nothing was stirring not even a mouse,
Nothing that is except my Brtiony 2T hot water boiler which is so furred up with gunge that it can't sense when the water stops flowing through it and therefore keeps heating the same bit of water untill it starts popping and banging and generally makes noises like it wants to explode.

So can I just take it apart and bung a load of viacal in and de scale it?, or

Can a decent heating engineer sort it out, if so how?

Is this going to cost me a bloody fortune and require me to buy a new boiler?

HELP!!!!

Dave

P.S. The phone number of a good plumber in the Colchester area would also be handy.

hi mate i used to work for gas board fitting these things - u may get it descaled but i wouldnt recommend doing it yourself - your acid is too strong and will eat through the thin piping/heat exchanger. I think the gas board (british gas/centica) still do descales - giv them a bell describing your problem. we used to have a machine that pumped weakish acid back and forth through the thing till its done.
Best to get the board out as it may be dodgy diaphragm etc thats causing the water to keep flowing.
Alternative is to get a new one http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif

If the gas board still does descales or a plumber (dodgy unless he`s your brother or sumthin) then it shouldn`t cost too much - maybe £50-100 tops.

Cheers Matey,
The real problem is getting someone to look at it sharpish, I know two heating engineers but bot are totally buried with work for the next couple of months.
Thanks for the advice though.
