there o-60 and ss 1/4 times are the same as a standard 200 sx s14

although they tail of towards the ton mark when the 200 is still pulling .just looked it up the clio is 1.7 secs slower to 100 :D

the one i was following today seemed to have a lot rolling mid-range pull which is like the S14, which really suprised me :eek:

My brother has a 172 and it is the bollocks. One of the best FWD cars I have ever had the pleasure of driving - its like a cross between an eager dog and a go kart :D

Bit light though, so lethal in the wet ............ do a search for sideways, 80 mph, and shat me daks :wack:

Lemme know if you wanna know anything about em mate :thumbs:

172 = 172 bhp, 20l 16VVTEC engine

Sport = :ghey: :ghey: :ghey:

If you were impressed I would wager it was a 172 :)

yea looking at that link it was a 172 :)

it may have been a cup, are there any visual differences that seperate the cup from the 172?

bren

Looks like the 'Sport' name covers all the 172s, the 182 and the V6.

i think it says cup on the back i really dont knowas far as im aware they all have the same performance,

The Cup has different alloys, I think, 8 spokes. No ABS, TC or any driver aids so a bit dangerous in the wet. 0-60 about 6.8-6.9 compared to 7.2 ish for the Sport, all through weight loss. Not sure if they say Cup on the back though. I'd be after one if Clio's wern't so :ghey:

The cup doesn't have headlight washers either

I am thinking about getting one of these but I am put off by the fact that they are supposedly to have suspect reliability and also they are a bit :ghey: looking! They are certainly well built, I am just concerned about reliabilty I just cannot see it being as good as a Jap car :no:

We (my wife) have one. Handles very well and it's been reliable but I can't get comfortable in the f*ckin thing, feels like I'm sat up in a van :annoyed:

Also, you have to use the gearbox a lot and rev the balls off it to go fast, which just doesn't feel right after full boost at 3,000 rpm :thumbs:

Thats why I love it - at about 6500 the VVTEC kicks in and its like a little turbo itself. I challenge anyone to change gear in them without springing forward as well - the car is just so eager to go!! :nod: :thumbs:
You actually have to work the engine rather than cruising like you would in a 200 :)

My bro hasnt had any probs with reliability in the year he has had it, but we did find one of the springs had broken :eek: This may have had something to do with my little 85 mph slide in it :indiff:

Still, I cannot recommend them highly enough, although the lad did say he got beaten by a 306 GTi in a drag race the other day :ghey:

i had a go with one and i didnt think they were that quick and i was 2 up on him he did have me abit on a round abou but that was before i lowered it and i did lose the arse but then i just pulled straight past him.

i like them tough and bet there good round a track little go karts, but id rather have a 106 gti.

A colleague of mine had a 172 and they are a great little car and very quick.

I was gonna get a 172 Sport myself but instead got an excellent deal on a Corolla T-Sport...again vtec engine maybe not quite as quick as the clio but still a fun car.

I usually checkout this website to see what consumers say about used cars reliability wise etc..

http://www.carsurvey.org/model_Renault_Clio.html

And the Clio 172 ain't that bad but not great either, still rates better than Pug's and VW's. Most Jap cars fair very well on this website :nod:

Quite cool cars :nod:

And one of the best things is that a fair few of them are driven by young lads who seem to think they are the fastest cars around and are keen to prove it..... I used to love their expressions as I passed them but alas no more :no:

Now I overtake them far too quickly to notice their expressions ;)

I had a race with a 255bhp V6 one. He couldn't get away from me, he let off at 140mph :ghey:

But apparantly the 172 is much better, its much lighter and isn't much slower than the V6. Only bad thing is the boy race image.
