Out of boredom I decided to do a full bootable installation of FreeBSD on a 128MB USB memory key :D :D :D

Had to do a real minimal install, with just 2MB of swap - but it works and boots from any PC.

Sendmail working a treat, just seeing if I can get lynx installed now :p

Fantastic!!

I've just spent the last 6 hours rebuilding an exchange server over a K band sattelite link - it's on one of our ships in the pacific.....talk about slow and boring!

Gonna try the USB thing....wonder if I could fit a full Server 2003 install on it? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

All the Dell Optiplex's in the office boot from USB if you hit F12 (boot menu) on start up. Im calling it UsbBSD :D

Startup is actually a bit slow, takes around 3 mins to boot and there isnt a lot of drive space left.

Now just make it automount an nfs home directory and you'll be semisorted.

unix tools make working alot easier.. if 'you know what you doing?!!!11'

You need only see my CV to see what I preffer to work with.

l use a Pu-ram flash drive for thier operating systems... ultra, ultra fast but huge £££££ :D

PuRam™ solid state flash disk with near zero latency and seek times, and burst transfer rates up to 8.5GB/s I/O, capable of over 150,000 I/O requests per second, all with an average of 0.0% CPU utilization. This translates into an effective desktop business productivity of up to 100 times faster than the fastest available hard disk design at any price or configuration. These are non-volatile units just like a regular hard drive with a permanent storage cycle. There are no more virtual memory or swap file delays (since now they are as fast as RAM) and there are no more System Disk Defrags (memory is random so it does not need defragging). Windows boots-up in seconds
