COULTHARD CONFIDENT ABOUT FUTURE
McLaren driver David Coulthard is confident that he has a future in Formula One beyond the 2004 season.
Coulthard is tipped to make way at the Mercedes-powered team when Juan Pablo Montoya joins McLaren from rivals Williams.
There has been speculation linking the Scot WITH Williams, Jaguar and Toyota but Coulthard insists he is optimistic about his future.
“I am very positive, but I can’t tell you,” he said when asked whether he will still be in Formula One next season.
“Announcements are announcements and until that time what am I going to say? Everyone has just got to wait for all the announcements.”
It has been a nightmare start for Coulthard this season as McLaren’s new car has struggled for power and reliability, amassing only four points from the opening five races.

"The first priority is making sure I am on the grid here this weekend and making sure I do the best job I can, so that is where my focus and energy goes," Coulthard added.
"I think that if you don't have a history, you either have the word potential beside your name or you are not considered someone who will be in Formula One for very long.
"I have gone through a period in my career where I started with no history and just that word potential. Then you turn that word into race results, so I am comfortable to look back on the results I have and use those."
