I lied, some bad news. The evening standard has a front page spread on how speed camera's are to be installed into cat's eyes at the end of the year!!! they've already been tested on the south circular without the camera in them. Bad Times ahead I fear. also the local rag has reported on how we should expect to see the specs system like what is running in nottingham along streatches of the M1.
They do all this but in the same paper there is a story of an 87 year old trying to park his car and hitting 4 other's and reversing into a shop window twice!!!
Because my bottom ends are on the way I drove to Santa Pod on Sunday at around 65-70. and everyone apart from lorries overtook me, not just slowley either and they were of all ages. bet these are the same cardy wearing greenies that get these things aproved. so one things for sure within 2 years the roads will be very quiet as everyone will be banned. bastids

One solution is this:

My other car is a (don't laugh) Opel Calibra Turbo 4x4 (230bhp).

Its still registered in Austria, where it came from. Insurance is no problem. Police don't give a monkeys. In fact they care so little that I received a mere stern telling off when I was clocked doing 141.7mph on a rural dual carriageway, he even had the cheek to grumble about the fact that I was outrunning his Volvo T5R.

Too many doughnuts have killed your power to weight ratio, Officer. Is what I didn't say.

I read that article about the cat's eye camera thing a while ago, and while there are some drivers out there who are complete domeheads, most of us are responsible and save the rubber burning antics for the track. It's just another way of hitting the motorist for yet more money, as if petrol, insurance blah blah blah..... wasn't enough. The camera's could be used to provide comprehensive cctv coverage of all major roads, and who knows, real criminals might get caught. But then again catching real criminals does not generate any revenue, where as finning motorist does, and the police will have to find some way of paying for all those camera's, won't they?

Okay, rant over just get's on my nerves how the motorist is constantly the target for some kind of persecution. And no, i haven't got any points on my licence.

Hi,
I've heard about these cat's eyes too. Rather than do people for speeding, this sounds like an excellent way to measure how close cars are together ! Since they will presumably know how far the cat's eyes are apart on the road !?
It really annoys me to think I'll be done for doing 90 or something down a motorway at 4am (which dare I say is pretty safe ?), but it's fine to tail gate someone at 3cm doing 70 !
