Hi there, does anyone know of an insurance company that will cover a 21 year-old chimp driving a Jap-import 180 SX with an ND 270, 18's, etc? :o
Just tried to get a quote from Adrian Flux, and they won't touch me with a bardge poll! Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeett! :o :(
You don't need insurance.
No really! I found this out when searching the legal tomes.
Apparently if you deposit £250,000 with the supreme court then that will do. It may have gone up in the last ten years, and it may not have been the supreme court, but it was true then.
Now is that one law for the rich etc or what?
Try Keith Michaels Insurance PLC I think that they are in Croydon, they insure Jap Imports!

Definately try A-Plan Insurance. Their main number is 0800 050505 but they will give you a seperate number for imports (which I don't have to hand right now).
I am unsure if they will cover you if you're 21 though.. I had a few difficulties with mine - most wouldn't quote on it. Most that WOULD had a minimum age of 25.
I also got a quote off Admiral and it was not too bad, probably because I was a long standing customer of theirs. But worth a shot.
Flux are crap for imports and each time I got through to a stroppy bird who's attitude was "you're having a laugh aren't you". I would steer well clear of them..
But, I'd be surprised if anyone quotes under £2K in all honesty.

Keith Micheals is very good, they do under 25s, my brother is 22 and hes got GT4 WRC 280bhp for 1650.oo FC with 4 ncb and he had a modded 5 turbo before which they took into account. Your looking at more because ND270 is not standard spec and the car was not made to do it so 2K is lickly. The suspension and breaks will need to be uprated and you will probabley need an engineers report to prove its safe. I had to have one when I had a pug 205 with 220 bhp. Big pain in the arse. When you get passed 25 they dont seem to care and it makes little difference what modds you put on.
