View Full Version : still waiting for my broadband to be switched on!!
Im currently with onetel and have been quite pleased with their service so far. I've recently moved house, and so had to swap over my old broad band connection to the new house. My area has DSL so should be no issues, i've now been waiting nearly 3 WEEKS!!! for my connection to be switched on!!!
What the hell is going on?I've called them up nearly daily and they've just responded that its in the hands of their provision team/bt and they cant do anything, surely it shouldnt take more than 3-5 days to switch bloody DSL on!!
I've so far demanded to only pay half my monthly fee so far and got that, im in a good mind to cancel the service if they havent switched it on by friday....
What do you all think?

Sadly BT are a law unto themselves...
when I had broadband fitted three vans turned up, then they didunt want too do it any due to the wire havin too go up into the atic, so I ended up pretty much doin it myself, bastids.
they dont have to do any physical work, just switch the fookin DSL on!!
It really shouldn't take 3 weeks. Last time I moved it only took 7 days
Like scooby said though, BT like to take their time for no apparent reason
any idea if you have DACS on your line?
we did which is why it didnt fire up till BT came and did their stuff, basically had to re-wire quite a lot of stuff to remove dacs, and broadband wont work through it at all
easiest way to tell is if you are getting a max connection speed of about 28k on a dialup modem, may get 33k if your lucky
average dialup speed is about 42k which seems about right
apparantly when the bt engineer came round to switch on the phone line and hook it up, said everything was in place for broadband
According to a BT engineer, it takes one person 10minutes to get it activated, so basically BT are lazy gits

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
does anyone have a contact number for the bt lot who switch on broadband????

Assuming that your new place is in an upgraded exchange area (where the exchange has actually been upgraded properly  ) Provisioning a DSL line should take no more than seven days. Of course if BT haven't got enough engineers to do the work (hmm) then they'll get to your job when it rolls up to the top of the list and there's not a fat lot you can do about it I'm afraid.
