A few weeks ago the BBC held a poll on the nation to discover the best British comedy (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sitcom/winner.shtml) .
The results were :
1. Fools & horses
2. Blackadder
3. The vicar of Dibley
4. Dads Army
5. Fawlty Towers
6. Yes minister
7. Porridge
8. Open all hours
9. The goodlife
10 One foot in the grave
for me 3 of those shouldnt be in there when classics such as "'Allo 'Allo!", "Red Dwarf", "Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights", "I'm Alan Partridge" got left out of the top ten
And vicar better than dads army? :censored: :furious:
They are all OLD comedies, shows what people watch BBC, lol
Only Fools & Horses at number one tho

i suppose comedy is like music each to there own,,i dont suppose you voted for "are you being served" or "hello hello" by any chance :wack:
was red dwarf even entered into that?
i'm sure the original list didnt even include red dwarf when voting started cos there was a petition to get it there on the red dwarf web site
the bbc seem to forget that red dwarf exists most of the time
just hope the budget doesnt get pulled before they complete the film

3 episodes of Dads army have sadly been lost forever by the BBC
The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Walker
Private Walker is called up much to Captain Mainwaring's annoyance, due to Walker's key role in obtaining essential supplies - such as fudge, alcohol and cigarettes. It is not too long however, before Walker returns to the platoon. During his short time in the Army he is found to be allergic to corned beef and so is discharged!
A Stripe For Frazer
The Walmington-On-Sea platoon are told that a member may be promoted to Corporal. Captain Mainwaring is not sure that the obvious choice of Jones would be the right choice. He promotes Frazer to Lance-Corporal so that he and Jones can compete for the rank of Corporal.
Under Fire
Whilst keeping a lookout for fire-bombs, a flashing light is seen. It is believed that a town resident is signalling to the enemy. The platoon arrest the man, but he is freed after Mavis Pike vouches for him. The church hall catches fire after being hit by an incendiary and the platoon struggle to extinguish it.

I thought Fawlty Towers should have won. It hasn't really tired over the years IMO anyway.
Phoenix Nights, League of Gentlemen, I'm Alan Partridge, Brass Eye, The Day Today all great shows, just a bit too "alternative" to be anywhere close to winning.
