Hello,

I have an old Athlon 700MHz PC (Nearly four years old) with a AGP slots etc.

I need to get a better graphics card to play Toca Race Driver 2
on & the WIFE's new SIMS 2 when it comes out. My old Geforce 32MB plays it ok, but it i need a better card.

I have Windows ME can you tell me what graphics cards I can go up to?

I have seen Geforce 4 & Geforce FX 128mb cards for £33 odd and wondered if these will be ok? Or are there any ATI Radeon / Fire GL cards that would be ok too?

Your help would be appreiated.

To be honest, on that spec of machine you might as well just get a Geforce 3 Ti unless your planning to upgrade the rest of your machine soon? At the moment the PC isn't powerful enough to utilise cards like the FX series effectivly. It's a bit like strapping a massive wing to a lada, It's not going to go fast enough for you to notice any difference.

Cheers Mint Sauce.

I am planning to get a new DELL PC soon with Hyper Threading etc and will use the new Geforce 4 or FX in that too. :)

In that case i'd recommend

£100 - 128mb Ati Radeon 9800 Pro. Excellent price and performance
Best all round choice

£65 - 128mb Ati Radeon 9600 Pro. Good price and performace.
Budget

Anything less wont play either games you mention very well at all although you might get away with a Geforce Ti 4600 but don't expect to play in high resolutions etc plus it's DirectX 8 rather than 9 so you'll miss out on some nice effects
